Anyone with an 05+ interested in a smaller alternator pulley?

So I have set my idle a little lower than normal to keep the car from pulling in gear in traffic and have noticed that the alternator cannot keep up at this low of an RPM the voltage would start out at 14.6 and slowly fall into the 12.1 range then kick back up to about 13V for a second then back down and wouldn't increase unless the engine speed increased, the fans would also speed up and slow down with this as well. I ended up buying a new smaller alternator pulley that measures 1.9" across the top of the ribs (Stock is 2.43"). This is nice and all, but the pulleys all have the offset about 7/16" away from the pulley and would pull the belt out of alignment. Not only that but the shaft is is so short that the new pulley doesn't even have any exposed threads. I ended up turning it on a lathe and got it down to where it fit perfectly and now even with the AC full blast and the lights on the voltage is able to hold and my fan no longer rises and falls with the idle. I may buy a few extra's and machine them if there is any interest or need.

Not sure. I did one for my 05'GTP 05-08 are the same but 04 uses a clutch and I haven't looked into it. Take a picture and post it and I'll see it I can tell.

Depends on how many I were to do. Single would be about $40 plus shipping. Doesn't look like there is much interest so unless I can get them at a better price or get them cheaper buying multiples and getting them cheaper that's about what it would be.

the 04 alt pulley is smaller than 05-08, ~2.1'' IIRC. IDK if it has anything to do with the clutch inside, I don't understand why it has one, or why it's the only year that has one lol

I don't know why they think they are a good idea or were a good idea. Someone dropped the ball in thinking about how the system works anyway. The only time that clutch will come into play is if when the engine is shut off and there is no electromagnetic drag from any risidual flux in the rotor acting on the field. That is the only time it really freewheel. I have heard a couple of people trying to diagnose a bad bearing sound when they shut off the engine and the clutch is what it turned out to be.

IDK, but mine is special, and I think I'm gonna pull the case off and repaint it, throw it back on. lol

But I can take the pulley off and take detailed pics, see if they are really that different than the 05+ and whether you can rename this thread.

Or you can just buy one already powdercoated

Not sure you can do that on the 05+ anyway. I'm iffy on the 04+. Besides I only did it because of my commute and 125 amps is more than plenty for a dual battery car with up to 2Kw stereo.
