Dealership sold me a modded "Pile" >:(

So I bought a 2011 Taurus SHO, with 88k miles on it 15k out the door. On the test drive I knew the car had a minor issue or two, but I worked those into the We OWE , so the dealer would fix. Being a ford, I got the ESP for it.
I get it home, its not performing or quite running like it should, I hook up torque, and see its running boost, at levels that say its tuned. I go back to the dealer and ask the service department to check to confirm and if so to flash it to stock. ( I don't want to run someone elses mods not knowing whats there) And I was told, they cant flash it back, because its running aftermarket sensors, and a few other mods and that it is indeed tuned. The guy knew this without checking the car.

So obviously the dealership had knowledge. I NEVER buy modded cars, I don't trust them, and I know usually they've been driven hard. Had I of known I never would have bought the car.

I also noticed a number of other issues, The Oil pressure light has come on twice, and the transmission slams gears. I bought a Tuned, lemon. And im not even sure that the warranty is valid because its tuned.

Basically, im stuck with a car running a tune I know nothing about. the only two choices are buy a $400 tuner and have it retuned, or Spending ~300 to have it put back to stock.

I would agree. Demand your money back as mods were not disclosed to you. Threaten to lawyer it up as things were not disclosed to you.

Don't forget choice #3, which should be choice #1..... return the car to the lying piece of crap that sold it to you.

Re: Dealership sold me a modded Lemon >:(

Well, I talked to a friend, who's mother is a lawyer. He asked her, and ..... yeah that's apparently the least of my options, especially if the warranty is void.

Re: Dealership sold me a modded Lemon >:(

If you're absolutely stuck with the car your best option is probably to have the car scanned by professional shop. Then research all the codes, maybe join a Taurus SHO forum if you haven't already, and go from there.

-From what I've learned about cars flashing the PCM on a modded car back to stock could do more harm than good.

Yeah, lemon huh? And how's it running now that you took out those two cracked plugs you installed? And I still don't believe your claim on shoforum that you have a 190* tstat in it.

People mod those? Hmm didn't know that

its a ford

Fix
Or
Repair
Daily

enough said lol but really ford has gotten better at building thing that can last

Re: Dealership sold me a modded Lemon >:(

They make massive gains with simple bolt ons. Less money, and more hp per mod then a gp actually. And a trans that isn't glass.

Re: Dealership sold me a modded Lemon >:(

It's amazing what more than a decade of newer technology can accomplish! Who would have thought!!!

Want a list of the faults with the car?
1. The trans slams and I mean SLAMS into 4th, downshifting into 3rd takes at LEAST 3 seconds every time.
2. if the trans gets pushed even slightly hard, it starts lagging and slamming every gear.
3. The car hesitates off the line, it has a about a second where it has no idea whats going on.
4. The radar cruise control sensor is broken meaning I have no cruise control.
5. The oil pressure light has been on twice, yes I have checked the oil level its fine.
6. The spark plugs made no difference other than fixing the misfire.
7. The car will drive arrow straight one moment then start pulling to the left. Same road Different days it can go straight, or the wheel will turn 20* to the left as soon as my hand comes off . Yes, ive had it aligned.
8. The car has a bad axle or something, because at about 60 it shakes anytime throttle is applied. and im not talking about a mild little vibration, I mean it shakes, and bucks.
9. The Dealer is replacing a wheel bearing on the car as part of the we owe (not my problem, but still another fault)

9 problems discovered in less than 2 weeks. If that's not a lemon, then I don't know what to call it, but nothing good.

Even with the warranty im looking at probably over a thousand dollars in deductibles and diagnostic fees.

As for the thermostat, ill say again what I said on SHO forum: " First I will say the car has a 190* Tstat, Temp hovered around there the whole time." I was reading 87*C to 89* C which is 188-192F.

To me that's closer to the temps of a 190 than 180 but maybe that's just how the 180s work, or maybe mine is faulty.

I wouldn't have bought it had I know it was tuned, From personal experience people who mod their cars, drive them to make use of those mods. Its clear that the last driver either ran the crap out of this car or didn't take care of it. I still have no idea what tune its running, and Im a fan of spending money to find out.

Re: Dealership sold me a modded Lemon >:(

I signed the final set of paper work on 6/23 so less than 2 weeks. My bank hasn't even posted the loan to my account yet.
Wow. Less than I had guessed. I can't believe there is no recourse in a case like this. I'd be in the dealers face making their lives miserable.

Saturday they are replacing a wheel bearing. It was supposed to be in the we owe, but ... conviently they cant find it. So im sort of dependent on their good will until then. In the mean time, I am trying to gather as much information as possible. Im trying to get the Extended warranty people to tell me if the Tune voids the warranty without telling them what car was tuned . If the warranty is Voided then I have some serious ammo to use. I am also considering talking to my credit union and getting them involved. If im going to war with these people I want to have my facts straight.
