Reconditioned heads

Just got my heads back from the machine shop and felt like showing them off. This shop is about a mile away from where I live and very familiar with the 3800. My heads had ~80k miles on them, and these guys did an awesome job with them.

wow how much about would u pay for that ?????

It's a shop local to me. They did it for $186 (including sales tax). Here's the cost breakdown, for those interested:

Mill 2 V-8 or V-6 cast iron heads - 45.00
Clean, magnaflux, reface valves and seats, check springs, flatness, and valve guides - 85.00
Remove stud from head - 17.50
Parts: 12 valve seals - 13.08
Shop supplies - 7.38
Hazard waste - 2.95

Sales tax at 9% - 15.38

So, it'd actually be cheaper since 17.50 of that was them removing a bent exhaust stud I couldn't get out.

I say you just pack those back up, PM me and I'll give you my address and you can ship them to me and I'll break them in for ya.

Lol. If you want to send a set of heads and the money, I'm sure these guys could do you a similar set. They know the 3800 pretty well and have worked on it in F-bodies quite a bit. They primarily do LSx engines right now for performance builds, but the guy told me I had L67 heads as soon as he opened the boxes. Great bunch.

I was quite impressed when they gave them back. I mean, you can see I gave them a set of dirty turds and they gave me back beautiful heads.

As much as I loathe the shipping costs to there, I might end up sending you a set. Id like to have the whole engine, block and crank and stuff like that worked on.

^^^^^ I don't think he can hear you.

I figured as much.....it was the easiest way at the time for me to "subscribe" to this thread.....and for anyone else considering machine shop work from this shop, here is their link and I just spoke to Raymond and he is very familiar with the L67 and L32 motors.....most of their work is for pure race but he was very understanding and accommodating to my need of rebuilding my motor.
