hard to fill up gas tank and P0446 code

hello, I've searched the forum a bit but still need some help.
when I bought my 2005 GTP a short while ago I noticed that its very hard to fill up the gas tank. the pump will shut off after a few seconds. the check engine light also came on with a P0446 Evap code. I already replaced the Vapor canister vent solenoid and that didn't fix my issue. im getting 12 volts with the key on at the vent solenoid wire harness, and when I apply 12 volts to the solenoid using a battery I can hear it open and close. however, once I plug the solenoid into the wire harness it does not open or close. could this be a pressure sensor?

I was hoping I could find a vent hose that might be clogged but I cant find one. please help.

did you take the canister off and see if its got gas inside it? they fail too, or a busted vent line tank to gas filler neck. that line rotted through on my car and it would click the pump off if the car was running, but filled fine car off. odd one for sure.

I have not removed the canister. I think its located on top of the fuel tank right? I have not checked anything else, ive been waiting for some warm and dry weather

its under the filler neck in the quarter panel. where the vent solenoid is you said you changed.

or you change the purge solenoid under the hood?

Yes I changed both. For some reason the solenoid doesn't open once installed. I can't hear it open or close when the key is turned off and on.

I have the same issue with mine. I even fully removed the canister in the rear wheel well so the tube going to it was just open to the air and the car still will not take fuel unless put in very slowly. Except sometimes when it decides to take half a tank how its supposed to and then starts the stupid crap again. I just figured something was clogged in the tube and gave up

hello. I have an update on my hard to fill gas tank issue...................its fixed!!!!!

it was the charcoal canister. this morning I dropped the gas tank and installed a new canister and whammy! I can now fill up my gas tank without cussing every 2 seconds.
