Dim Halo rings [Spyder]

[1999 Grand Prix GTP, '98 engine] So I bought these headlights and it all works as expected except for the Halo ring. The ring is extremely dim, being only slightly visible at night. My friend attempted to wire them to my fog lights - extra power >> more lumens - and it consequently short circuited my car costing me about $200.

What are some ways I can increase the rings brightness, and what are a good choice bulb to match the Kelvin rating but still get great illumination? Also what options do I have regarding parking lights that aren't yellow?

Nothing. They are crap. That about sums it up. Retrofitting is your best option.

Are these brand new? Iirc there was an older version which weren't as bright as the newer ccfl halos. I've got mine running off my fogs with no problems so you might want to check your wiring. BTW they are pretty much crap, light output sucks worse than stockers and because of the weak brackets they bounce like crazy unless you modify the brackets somehow.

Yeah they're brand new, I think I'll cut my losses and sell them on Craigslist and get halos based on performance and quality, not appearance. Function over form right? 😁

I vote for selling them. I've had Spyders on my car for years. The material they use for the housing is crap and will eventually crack. And the halo is dim no matter what I have tried.
