Abnormal amount of KR

So I have just put on my 3.4" pulley, and I got a tune. The problem is that when my tuner was going at it, he could not possibly get the knock retard down. at full throttle I have almost 13-16* of it. When he showed me, the supercharger was whining and then the whine would suddenly become quieter as if there was a lack of fuel. He suggested to buy a new fuel filter, then also change the spark plug wires. I'm waiting on the wires but just wanted to see what you guys thought of this predicament

not seeing a scan, who knows. thats a lot of kr.

you got headers on it yet? if not you want them asap or take the pulley off.

fuel pump could be bad, your guy should have tested the pressure at the rail.

was this a dyno shop with a wideband? or a local with a tuner/ pal?

I've got a custom intake, obx headers, 3" exhaust down to the the y-split then 2.5" to the mufflers. it was a local friend that has been tuning the 3800 for 12 years too. Narrowband I believe. It is a 1997 GTP

He set it at runnning 17% rich to try and combat it

In tuning jargon that means nothing to me. Say it's set to run rich by a percentage is not correct really. There is a set AFR that you should be commanding while in performance enrichment, like say 11.0 or 11.5.

If you have a target AFR and the wideband is saying otherwise, it needs to be corrected. Say it's on the lean side of 11.0, it might be running out of fuel. That can be confirmed by dropping fuel pressure or having the injector duty cycle over 90%.

If it's on the rich side, then fuel needs to be removed via the MAF table. It needs to be scaled back to tell the computer that it's really not pulling in that much air and needs less fuel.

Timing will be low if it's showing that much knock.

Not to say this tooner doesnt know what he's doing, but I'd be concerned if he really set timing to that low of the number. That's just going to hurt the engine.

your friend has it on his laptop. have him email it to you, you can email it to me. if i see some thing messed up i can fix it and send it back to you.

then he re flashes the new bin. pretty painless. ive done it for many guys here.
