• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

All of you guys with a license plate filler...

SubwayGuy

Who is this guy?
So I just got my plate filler in the mail and went to mount it, only to find out I don't have any hardware. This is what I get when I take my license plate off.

You can the normal license plate holes with the white square. But to the left of that is the little square for the cover. Is there supposed to be a threaded clip that goes on there? Because I stuck a screw driver in there, and there's nothing to thread into back there. The squares for the license plate are too big for that hole, so that doesn't work. Am I missing anything? And pics of the screws you have are useful too. I know they're supposedly a #8, but pics would help a lot.

The screw grommets that go there are simply smaller than the ones for a tag. If you use a #6 black oval head screw and just jab new holes near the square holes but the outside the edges of the filler's loops, it will hold. Did you follow that? Tough for me to find the little grommets new, so I grab them off JY or stuff I wreck lol. I could explain better if that was insufficient.

I would really like to find those stock grommet things first before I got poking holes in there and potentially wrecking it and not being able to use it again.

Well if you want a link to a page where the exact item is 2 cents apiece, I'm no help. but I might be able to manage a pic of what is supposed to be there. A little improvisation won't hurt you or your bumper though.

Does the clip grommet thing look like the normal license plate screw one, or is it a different shape? Otherwise I will have to wait until next week Saturday to go to the junkyard to find one.

Oh, and at first I thought you said you COULD show me where those pieces are for $.02 hahahahahaha. I had to reread it again lol.

As to the shape and size... if the ones for the tag are molars, the ones you need are bicuspids. Let me look in my bag o trix for one... not sure I have a loose one around. They are a bit unusual.

Mine are all in use, no pic. If you can't wait... Got double sided tape? I say screw it lol. Front tag states suck :p

I tried here but didn't have any luck. They are something to keep an eye open for at the JY, but then it can be tough not to break them getting them out because of all the casting flash like in the bumper pic shown, plus old.

Double sided tape for the epic win!!! Lol, as soon as you mentioned it, I was like hell yes.

I have some emblem tape that worked perfectly. 4 little strips along the bottom lip and it's holding great. Thanks Matt!

This should be stickied.

I just used the screws that hold the door panels together inside off of one of my parts panels, lol. Mine already had the holder things though.

That's a good tip. But too bad mine didn't have those holder things already. Otherwise I'd use them screws. But my emblem tape is working perfectly ;).
