Best '04 Swaybar Upgrades?

Kaiser Pontiac

I had read around some and it seems that the GXPs and '04 CompGs have a solid rear sway bar - and that it helps handling a lot. A local-ish yard has a GXP rear sway bar for $30. Is this a fair price, and is the upgrade worth it? Also, what would I need to go with it, since I'm guessing it's got some life on it.

Additionally, I had heard that CompG front swaybars are a good upgrade for the front - but, if you change the LCAs to the '97-'03s you can just go to the 33mm Dorman - which is better yet. I can't seem to find any info, but is the GXP front swaybar an upgrade at all? This is all going on a N/A car, so I don't need crazy handling or anything - just want some improvement in ride and handling for the cheapest price possible since I'll probably be driving the crap out of this car forever.

Best sway bar for the rear hands down is the Addco. I still can't believe the difference it made in my car and except for coil overs (which I will never do) I am pretty much maxed out in suspension mods.

My car is an '04, the GXP I'm looking at is an '05.

So, should both connect to strut instead of the LCA and I wouldn't have to do anything to swap? Or, should I get one out of a GXP that has it attached to the LCAs, change it out, and maybe upgrade to a Dorman in the future? Or, is that a lot of extra hassle that I don't need to do - and should just do the easy sway for a better swaybar?

Also, this is just the larger hollow one, correct?

Keyword "should" best to double check before you start pulling it, yes if the sway bar connects to the strut via end links it'd the 04-05 style ca and is a direct sway for you, if the sway bar is connect to the control arm then it's the 97-03.

The link above that's the GMPP bar same as the Dorman but hollow (and for thst price your better off going the solid dorman route) and won't work for you unless you switch to the older CA setup, choice is yours.. I switched to the 97-03 and Dorman setup since I went with coilovers and could no longer use the tab that's on the stock style struts

This is what the bar should look like

Ah, okay - good. I won't be doing any lowering so sounds like '05 GXP front and rear sways for a total of $60 should be a good upgrade.

Thanks, Red!

One other thing, are the WbodyStore control arms the same for 6th and 7th gens?

Same answer as before lol, 6th gen has sway bar mounts on the LCAs and 7th gen wouldn't have those spots for mounting, it's the same no matter where they come from

That's what I figured, 97-03 and 06-08 have the mounting for the sway bar on the LCAs... sweet, this might work out pretty good, lol.

It is a pretty good upgrade, they're the same bars I have on my Comp G and it handles great. Strut tower braces are gonna be the next thing for me, since my tires are no longer the limiting factor in my suspension lol
