Thermostat went out got a question

Well my thermo went out this morning. luckly it is stuck open. so no overheating. my question is can someone post a picture of where this thing is so I can replace it.

I know 195 comes OEM but why do people put the 180 in the car. and if I do that would it mess with my computer and check engine light.

A big thanks in advance.

If you look at your engine bay. to the right you will see a thick hose next to your airbox. follow it to the engine... the part it connects to is the Tstat housing. It has 2 bolts. take it off, and you will see the Tstat.

once the new one is in, be sure to bleed the air out of the system....

180 will keep te engine cooler, and most aftermarket pcm's are programed for a lower tstat.

You will not have to worry about any codes from the 180 thermo. It is just 2 10mm bolts to take the thermostat housing off. Make sure to put the 0-ring on the thermostat when you put it in.

both you guys thanks for the info. O Ring does that come with it or is that gasket that I have to buy also.

Normally you have to buy it separately, but its only a buck or two at most.

Also, look into getting a MotorRad thermostat. They are designed to lock in the open position in the event the thermostat fails. As you undoubtedly know it would be far better to lock open than closed.
