sometimes when i go to start my car and the blower dial is on the blower its self wont come on. usually one hit to the dash and it will fire up. also i can controll it on any speed when it does work. any ideas? bad motor? loose wire?
thanks

it did not come on yesturday and it was very cold out. so i hit the blower motor directley and it came on very slow and i hit it again and it worked good

Add another for blower motor, my 05' did the same thing, haven't had an issue with it. There was a guy that had a bad blower resistor not to long ago and had the same symptoms....

Mine's beginning to squeal, and kick up a mild burnt rubber smell; I need $62 for a new one with squirrel cage (not bad price), but a new blower will be going in very shortly!

I have the same issue and thought it was the blower motor so I replaced that and I still have the same issue. Make sure you test the parts so you are not throwing money at it like I did. Mine needed a new resistor.

Just FYI for those unaware...there is a known problem with the air inlet/water deflector and leaks on the blower motor and resistor in some W body models including the 04+ Grand Prixs. I know because my resistor failed completely in my '05 GP in 2009. First the problem showed up as a puddle of water in the passenger floorboard in the mornings after a night of rain. It got bad fast and only after completely frying the resistor did I figure out where to leak was. After I fixed the leak I replaced the blower motor, resistor and the cabin air filter. I had to replace the SRS unit in 2012 or 2011 not sure. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the water issue because it got so bad that it went into the backseat floor area before I fixed it.

I guess some owners may not get puddles of water just but just enough to cause some issues...

I ended up using permanent silicone to seal the deflector to the windshield. That was after installing a homemade cover over the blower to deflect any water that might come in. More insurance than just the foam piece I thought. It has been good for the last 8 years or so.

I didn't think this was an issue with 04+ Grand Prix's, I've heard of it on other years but not 04+. The link you posted is to a grand am site.

I'm not sure if the TSB # is the same but I for sure had a problem with this. I did just find this TSB on the resistor specifically though:

Did not know about that one.

Cool, thanks It rains cats and dogs here often and I haven't had an issue (yet) but ill keep an eye out.

Right on

Found this in the how to/ write ups section.

I forgot they made a new part for this issue. If my silicone work ever starts coming apart or I get a new windshield I may get the GM part. I took a thick piece of cardboard and put it in a ziploc bag...siliconed the bag shut and tucked it under the little rubber cowling piece....and I used some gasket sealant to hold them in place. It's permanent and works great...no one can see it so it doesn't matter. I don't even know if they were making that part at the time I fixed my leak. Same concept. Stef

1999 GRAND PRIX. have REPLACED RESISTOR And blower motor not at the same time. New blower motor is noisy you can hear bearing at low speed. Recommend getting GM motor not aftermarket.
