What to do with suspension

Hi all, I am finally done with all of the preventative maintenance on my 01 gtp and I have a few questions about where to go next.

My car now drives better and I feel better about it, but the suspension is starting to get to me. I know this is a heavy car, but I would like a tighter suspension and maybe a little bit of lowering. She takes turns kind of well but bumps are always more felt than they should be

The problem is, I believe the suspension is 100% stock..... Would the old struts be causing the bounce in the car?

Also, if I get lowering springs are shocks required? I would like to do both but I can't spend my whole budget on this because there's still a lot to be done under the hood.

Thanks in advance

Yeah you will deffently need struts if they are original and strut plates. You could get some monroe sensa trac at advanced auto and use the coupon codes to help with your budget they are decent or kyb gr2 struts.

you can do kyb gr2 struts with lowering springs. I did the KYB AGX struts with lowering springs on my front end, and the same strut with a taller spring from the ~2000ish oldsmobile intrigue on the back end. the intrigue spring is better, and it gives the car a more aggressive look while making it accelerate faster because there is less rear end sag.

the struts are about 60 bucks a pop, and if you can find a set, the front only lowering springs are about 100, and the rear intrigue springs are like 80. I may be remembering those prices wrong.

I like the struts idea but I'm still not sure if I want to drop it any.... The a** is already sagging so I was looking into lowering just the front.

And the other thing is it nose-dives pretty bad with braking and it has a significant amount of body roll too.

Yeah your struts are shot. Strut tower braces and bigger sway bars will help body roll.

until you do a bit of suspension work, it will have body roll. the struts will fix the nose dives when braking. I did front and back gmpp anti sway bars, front and back strut tower braces, tubular rear trailing arms and moog problem solver lower control arm bushings. the car handles really good now.

That's the point of using an intrigue rear spring.
Hell even the eBay cheapo DNA rear lowering spring raised the ass end

just don't use a economy strut with a lowering spring or the bounce will be annoying.

i used SSC in the front and SSC intrigue for the rear. I also used DNA for the rear (which was even taller but too stiff)

upgrade your sway bars. Get strut tower bars front and rear. Upgraded poly end links. MOOG end links for the rear

the list goes on and on ;)

it's taller than stock and has a better spring rate

You used a stock spring for the rear ? Interesting. I chose the lowered spring for the rear from that vehicle.

ZZP also makes a "cargo" spring. Rear end has a hard-on that won't go away. A buddy of mine uses those

Monroe struts, SSC coils, GM anti-pogo washers and home-made engine/trans spacers.....

That looks really nice man. Do you happen to have any pictures of the home made spacers?

so would these be okay for the best bang for my buck? i like the already assembled idea because I don't have a spring compressor nor have I ever built a strut before

and thanks for the help guys :th_thumb-up:
