Range active fuel management disable device

I'm looking for something to help my car from burning oil and to help with the sound of the exhaust. I hate when the car drops cylinders because it sound terrible. And a few people told me about this device and was just wondering what your opinions were

Never heard of whatever you are talking about.

Most people get a aftermarket tuner/tune done to the car to disable the AFM/DoD feature when they add aftermarket mufflers or wish to stop it eating oil.

How does the car sound any different in dod mode..I can't tell the difference when it's in 4 cylinder mode which is when your cruising and the car is quite...now deactivating it will help the burning oil issue.

Put some magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers on your car, then you'll understand the difference in sound.

It's like a helicopter.

Skip to 10:30 in this video, you can hear it and he talked about it. The choppy/flutter sound is really annoying.

Yeah that does suck...stock exhaust and resonator so never heard that....my bad.

stock exhaust sounds great IMO, its the downpipe that you have to modify, once the restriction is gone there, it opens up the sound of the stock exhaust to something a bit more V8 like. This is my car with stock exhaust and a 3" catted downpipe and OBX headers.

I grant you that its cammed but if your looking for the V8 sound, you have to get rid of that goofy V6 downpipe and 800 cell cat.

The way he worded it made it seem like he was talking about making a V6 sound like a V8

The V8's utilize alot of the 3800 stuff, the catback's are exclusive to the V8 but the downpipe is identical, the cast manifold setup is identical to the 3800 with just an added runner on both ends. Very restrictive. That stupid U-bend where the rear o2 is boggles my mind.

U bend was not gone on ls4 vehicles. We all had the stupid u bend.

And the factory exhaust is garbage, toss that **** to. Unlike our 3800 bastard relatives , we have gains to be had and sound from exhaust modifications. Also if your gonna blow 200 just buy a Diablo tuner and and use that instead to turn off dod as well as have the ability to upload tunes to your vehicle.

Garbage in the sense that its mild steel, rusts and falls apart after a couple of years, and is a 2.5" system that turns into a 1 7/8" system at the mufflers. Are there gains to be had replacing the catback alone? Sure, alot of gains? Not as much as everyone seems to think. The real problems with the LS4 exhaust are up front. I am looking into the walker/dynomax super turbo direct fit mufflers for our cars, and ill probably replace that entire catback soon enough as my mufflers are beginning to rust out, found a dime size hole in the drivers side last week and its not long before the intermediate pipe begins to rot through, its completely rusted solid.

Why don't you just do it right and get the premade 3inch system from Mandrelexhaustsystems.com and fit mufflers and call it done

thats exactly what im talking about, its a trubendz exhaust kit, but it doesnt come with mufflers or resonators, just pipes clamps and hangars.
