20k What car would you buy?

if i'm buying a project i'm finding an older truck (50-60s vintage) that someone started to turn into a street rod type vehicle and didn't get it finished. scoop it up for discount and finish it up to have as my own project vehicle.

Barring project cars, maybe a G8 GXP M6 if you can find one in that range. Probably from a private seller. Also Z06 Vette, 2013+ Mustang GT, CTS-V, 03-04 Termi Cobra come to mind.
 
I'd probably buy a G35 or 350z and twin turbo it. $10k for a clean car, and then another $10k on mods. Boom, one quick car.

'79 Chevy or Ford (60s Chevy works too) crew cab short box or long box dually, Chevy put on a newer GM pickup frame w/ Duramax (LBZ) and hop it out, Ford put on a '90s 3500 Dodge frame w/ 5.9 Cummins and hop it out (turbos, injectors, ect, ect)

with 20k I could have my dream pickup or car pretty much, lol

I'd build me a slammed 2WD no-excuses 68 GMC short wide with a large N/A BBC that idles like a popcorn machine and has an indestructable four speed and mechanical clutch. Heater only, no nothing else.

The mustang would be wasted money. It's a ford.

And last I saw that no one can make the motor get anywhere near 1000rwhp on stock rods/pistons and make it last, everything else like cams and intake yeah. And the one company that built one with beefed up rods/piston said the motor was dying after a while from the power. They switched to a ford racing block to handle the extra power.

you can't get a G8 GXP for under $20k. they don't exist.

the C5 Z06 can be had, but it's not going to be a low mileage candidate.

the mustangs i bet are still over $20k, too. if not they're going to butt right up against it.


the only one on that list that you'll find under $20k is the 04-07 CTS-V. you haven't been price shopping on cars lately, hah.

hellion made over 1000whp on their twin turbo eliminator kit and race it that setup went 9s now its on a built bottom end by mmr and 62mm turbo makes 1400whp yes 14fvcking hundred hp. thats an off the shelf bolt on kit with a built bottom end stock head stock cams stock intake....... yes its an asston 9f money for the fwin turbo kit but 1k whp on STOCK bottom end is absurd. that impresses me more than the built bottom end setup with the bigger turbos making 1400whp and going 8s!!!

i said it choked me up to say it but a paxton or vortach kit thats around 5k on a coyote mustang and stock everything else down to the fuel system will make 600 with out even sneezing at it.......

20k to spend coyote mustang alllll day. hell the one i linked didnt even have 60k miles on it.

my point is 100% stock coote with a paxton on 10#s will live for a long time without going stupid with built engine and blah blah blah.......

thats on fvcking ebay more are out there from private sellers and ford forums and whatever just dig for them. might not be able to walk down the street and find one but sub 20k coyotes are out there........ even ones with low miles like the 47k mile example i posted...........

depreciation is a motherfvcker and its silly easy to make a coyote mustang quick. after all the mustang is the honda civic of the domestics lololol

i saw your post, that's why i added that they'll be right around $20k. apparently they're cheap pieces of **** that a car only a handful of years old is only holding value with what my 10 year old car does. fun.
 
you can get a g8 V8 with under 100k for about 18 within 100 miles of my place. The thing that concerns me is how few of them there are. I wouldn't want something I couldn't find parts for. I looked into the coyote V8 and everything I found with the blower said 600hp
The mustangs sound fantastic, I wont own one simply because the last ford product I had was an utter disaster, 06 fusion bought at 97k replaced: clutch, motor mounts, intake manifold, ball joints, rebuilt the engine. this was all by 120k when I sold it. I simply refuse to buy another ford product.
 
Id buy a rolling chassis, like a tempest or a lemans(maybe even a 4 door) in decent shape and drop a 421 tri power or a 428 motor in it with a 4spd, and keep it real plane jane lookin. Idk i guess im just weird like that:p

Good rolling chassis 5-8k
Motor 1-3k
Spend the rest on body and paint.
Having something different. Priceless lol
