Popping and Pulling to Side During Lift Off

So my car has been making this popping noise for a while that sounds like it's coming from in front of the pedal or right on the other side of the firewall. It started happening under heavy braking only. As soon as I hit a certain braking force I would hear and feel it. Then it progressed to hearing it under any braking what so ever, but not as loud as it was previously. And now (I've been letting this go on for months), it's starting to make the pop when i get on the brakes and the instant I let off and the weight transfers back. I've also noticed that the car has been pulling to the right when i let off the gas during lift off after accelerating hard which gives a floaty feeling. I put new quick struts in all around last year and changed the lower ball joints and tie rod ends a few years back now. I have checked the slop in the wheel with the car jacked and only one wheel has a little turning left right play (maybe 1/4" movement). I have looked things over and can't find anything that would cause this. Are there any common issues that would lead to these symptoms?? I'm thinking the steering rack may be the culprit but not sure.

Might want to give the control arm bushings a look. Since you didn't mention what year your car is or the mileage I can only guess what shape they may be in.
