Car starts then rpm gauge drops immediately

when you say never been on,,,was it not on when you ran it maf unplugged? if it was not on the bulb is bad.

car off turn the key to run, you see the cel light on? no cel, the bulb is bad for sure. go get the car scanned for codes asap.

Ok and once I unplugged the maf connector it began back driving

did you follow my instructions?
if its running with the MAF unplugged that points to the MAF. CKP sensor symptoms are specific, the tach goes wonky and drops to zero then the car stalls. as opposed to the car stalling and the tach dropping to zero. but if youre getting spark, the CKP sensor is usually OK

Would a rip in the air intake hose cause the tach to drop
