02 grand Prix steering wheel controls for aftermarket radio?

I'm planning on upgrading from the factory stereo. My only issue is HOW do I wire up the axxess steering wheel control kit for my car? the installation instructions confuse me.

There are 2 wiring harnesses on the back of the factory radio. There is a fat one and a small one.

Do I need to tap into both harnesses or just one of them for the axxess kit? What is the fatter harness? what is the smaller harness?

I've wired up aftermarket stereos before and amps. but this setup kinda confuses me. it's an 02 grand Prix gt.

I just bought a ASWC waiting for it to get here. Just curious in your install picture I could see the red wire is hooked to the red wire and it kinda looks like black is just black? I was wondering where does brown go? I have a top swapped 2000 grand prix gt I think they are the same?
 


From their online instructions.....

For Kenwood or JVC radios with the blue/yellow wire:
- connect the SWC wire (normally blue/yellow) to the brown wire of the ASWC
- isolate and tape the brown/white wire, it will not be used
