• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Atleast homemade.

My KN is trashed and time to get a new one ( looking at amsoil)
On my old prix i used a 9" with 4" intake but that car is long gone.
The filter that was on the regal is a tapered cone with 3" inlet opening and the media stands just shy of 5.5" ( this is not including the rubber top and base).

I know my very first intake was a thrasher and it had i think a 7" cone.
What are your thoughts i shoudl go with. I possibly will redo the intake it self as the person before me had 3" exhaust pipe bent so filter sits in bay but 2" of it start to go into the FW.

at that point flow will overcome any of the power gain from colder air. youre sucking it into a supercharger that is heating it up several hundred degrees as well, so what does a 10* difference in temperature make?

i think an FWI is good up until about a basic 3.4 setup. any beyond that should really reconsider their intake choice.

I see this a lot, but never any dyno sheets to prove it, is there anyone out there that can prove this theory.... otherwise, I stay with my biased opinion, that FWI are way way better, because the air temp is ambient... Ive never known a motor to like hot air over cold, even if it does have to travel a bit longer to make it there.

well its stupid to argue that warm air is better than cold air...

but the point Bio is making is that as you mod more and more cold air means less and less, and flow becomes more important.

the people that are so worried about intake temps should just run an intercooler.

anyone that has an intercooler and is running an FWI still would pick up a decent amount of power just by switching to an open cone.

when youre significantly modded, an open cone will make more power.
