Get a wideband AFR gauge or Dyno?

I am really new to this forum stuff so excuse me if this is an old topic. I need to tune my car pretty badly. Should i buy a wideband AFR gauge and have someone tune it or just get it dyno tuned? A local shop does speed density dyno tuning. What should I do?

Well, you can't speed density tune a 3800 anyway. The PCM is nearly 95% MAF based for every decision.

If you are already modded and what not, you should already have a wideband anyway. The last thing you want to happen is for you to go lean and pop a piston or two. Then you'd be angry at the dyno people because you never knew what happened.

I didn't know that you couldn't speed density tune them. That's good to know! Also, I found an AEM wideband with a Bosche 4.9 LSU O2 sensor for $150. Is that reasonable?

If you looked at a L67/L32 tune file, you see that everything references the MAF sensor and very very very very little is the VE table used. It's more there for a accel. enrichment to help with the transition I guess. The VE table stops at 105KPA and the boost pressure will exceed 140-145KPA on stock motor. (6-8 psi)

I have two AEM's sitting around already, they work fine for your needs.

Do they make higher quality and better ones, yeah but close is good enough for what we deal with. We aint making 700+ hp to the ground with absurd boost numbers.

Okay awesome. Thank you for input. If i get the wideband AFR gauge do you think just a normal tune would be good? A dyno tune is just a little out of my budget right now, but my car needs a tune pretty soon.

Do you know how much he sells them for? My car has a canned tune now, but ive done a few things since then. Intercooler and 3.0 pulley have been added.
