Rocker panel trim

My new to me 02 GTP is starting to have the rocker panel trim on the bottom of the door curl and come loose. Obviously it appears the double sided tape has failed/is failing. I've heard the 3M super strength stuff is good to reattach it. What can be done about the slight curling on the end? Heat gun and straighten it out? Also where can I find replacement clips? Mine look busted.
 


Is the part right under the door curling outward, towards the side of the car, or is it at the end near a wheel? Do you have pictures?

If it is in the middle right under the door and curling away from the car, I'd check behind it, as you might have rusted rocker panels behind the rocker panel trim.
 
Used the 3M stage 3 double sided tape on the gf's 03 GP. Works flawlessly provided you use the 3M rubber wheel to get all the old crap off.

Well, we've stumbled onto something that appears to be a year-to-year difference. 99s have a very thin flange where the tape goes but with a screw boss there and the molding is paper-light. But I just looked at the pair of 2002 moldings I have, and the tape area is not a flange, its really thick and solid at the top instead. Obviously a revised part. Thats good news, you can probably re-tape yours. Do the best you can to clean it without peeling it off more, then re-tape that spot and hold it flat with tape then warm the whole area with a hairdryer enough to relax the plastic. Mash hell out of it while its hot, then let that cool down and mash again and un-masking-tape it and see how long it holds. Might take 2 or 3 tries but I don't think yours is very bad yet so you might make a permanent fix.
 
Well the bottom trim is completely gone so the door molding flaps open with the door shutting haha. It seems I'm going to have to pull it all and clean it and re-tape it all.

Aw heck, yeah you did say it was flappin in the breeze, didn't ya? Well, count your blessings since it appears you have the sturdier molding design. Those early ones rip really easy. Make every effort to keep the molding flat as you remove it, and do use a little heat if the molding is still curled after cleaning. You'll have to get lucky at either a yard or dealer to get replacement clips n strip but those shoudn't cost much. FWIW you could carefully drill then put a short screw there to avoid a repeat. I'll take my chances. You also have to understand that the technology and materials to make double side taped has gotten much, much better since the late 90's and early 00's.

Oh I know. I was just havin' fun. I used 3m tape to install the HID ballasts on my T-bird, mounted to the bottom of the bumper, -10*C or so, and a heat gun. 4 years later they were still there. Prep is key. I have no sympathy for folk that say their tape failed. BS. I hear it 20 times a day at work, and it is still BS.
