• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Simple Intake (pictures)

just installed the nawarkk air intake system. i used a 3inch coupler i found in the plumbing section instead of the one nawarkk used. it was about 1/4 thick rubber. fought for a half hour trying to strtch it over the throttle body. kept hearing a voice saying "use your man arms ! " . tried lubing it with vasoline and still couldn't get it. just as i was about to give up and go look for a larger diameter coupling , i loosened the clamp up a little more and it slid right on ...:th_depressed:..guess sometimes using your brain trumps using man arms.
the coupler was 4 inches long and made a perfect spot to drill a half inch hole to snug the IAT sensor in.

anywho , after i tightened everything up and getting psyched expecting some changes in sound and/or performance , i started the car . i heard nothing. nothing different anyway. there was no big suction noise or anything different that i could here.took her for about 8 mile trip , mashing the throttle often. i did notice the whine was a bit louder than it was at WOT, but not a big difference. i think the throttle response was a little better but i did put new iridium plugs , wires and a new O2 sensor in yesterday as well.

my next step is to knock the dino oil out and put a new K&N Oil filter and some mobile 1 synthetic in it.

it wasn't the coupler that wasn't big enough for the TB , it was the clamp that wouldn't slide over it. it was one of these deals that already had the clamps in place and i had them loose...just not loose enough to go over the lip on the TB.

Or, you just bolt the filter on the throttle body like 99% of everyone does because it's simpleR and it works.

Because basically there were two people posting in there that actually were helping you.

If you're worried about it, try different setups. Get the tubing, install it. Then remove it and bolt the filter to the throttle body. It's not going to be any different either way like they stated. The cone on the TB will just make the blower louder at WOT, throttle response might be a little better too.

I do it that way because I'm lazy, it's easy, and the gains for all the extra work with intake piping don't warrant my time.

How's that?

Big hands make everything look small. :th_biggrin2:

Yer right Scotty. Must be one of them new power-reducing intakes. LOL

no im used to looking at large things lol

thats a 2 inch pipe. see how tight the clamp is next to the one on the tb.
it;s an optical illusion created by the scratch on the pipe that makes it look like the edge of the tubing...look at the iat sensor.

lol..at first i was like WTF ? then i realized part of the tubing was blending in with the black in the back ground..plus i have a 27 inch monitor so the picture is really big..lol
