Post Whoring - 5.5.1 - We have a turd in the punch bowl

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

I was port happy after doing my heads, so I ported my push mower :th_shakinghead1: :)

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Yeah I've rebuilt a ton of small engine carbs and two 4 barrel Holley carbs, they're all the same idea. Much more complicated for cars with accelerator pumps, automatic choke, two bowls/floats for primary's/secondarys. And other things

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Hi guys!
I haven't forgotten about you all, just been crazy busy with work and the wedding.
I've been neglecting the car a bunch and it's starting to show. Especially in the paint. Needs a good hand wash and polish, big time. I'm just struggling to find enough consecutive free time to do anything.

Whoever said growing up was fun...lied.

glad your doing good i bet you wish the wedding was over and things were back to normal

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Oh yeah car carbs get a LOT more complex. Idle and WOT are cake, everything in between involves transitional circuits with all sorts of nifty mechanisms. Mowers run at pretty much one speed and the tune stays same as load changes. But yeah the simplicity of them once you're familiar makes sense for most industrial applications. On cars I am all about simplicity. Dig into race car mechanical fuel injection if you want to see simple. Pretty much a jet with wind going across it. I'm a firm believer that understanding previous technology is key to developing future solutions. Fundamentals, don't skip em.

It has occurred to me that I could set up a crank trigger on an L67 and put a blow-thru carb under the M90. Then I could tune it like I know how, sans software!

Wedding is done, almost 2 weeks now. It's crazy bow much time and planning goes into it and then it's over in a matter of a few hours. It was perfect though, I couldn't ask for a better day.

Work tho, it's still crazy and won't calm down for a week or so yet. Inspection times got us running all over the place. I spent the day in ohio today, and will be there again tomorrow.

I've forgotten what normal is like anymore.

This happened the other day when my boss was pressing in a wheel bearing. Just went bang and broke into pieces.

Also replaced the gasket between the trans/transfer case on a gmc 2500. Changed the fluid in it, chunks came out unfortunately.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

I found it impressive multiple things broke in the millisecond it took to fall apart. At the top right the frame hole ripped out the top. The second bolt down on the right side actually broke. Then the top that we had the spindle on actually broke off as well. It went bang! And we were like ....huh. Lol
Walked away and its still sitting exactly like that

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

That's what I thought. My boss just said I don't know, its pretty old. I was thinking a 10 year old hf press. Everything was bent on it before this happened. We have an old one that's much larger in the back, I'm sure it's going to take its place.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Yeah, its the orange made me ask that. Looks to me like the boss is no fool because he def got his money's worth outta that! He was also lucky on which direction it fell. We have some super-heavy plates on the shop press and every time I have to move one I'm paranoid about foot smash.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

That press always made me nervous. Any press really, but this one especially. I used to put a tall fan we have in between it and me while using it lol. Luckily it just fell straight down, but he was really pulling on the bar hard when it went.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Someone somehow fell into the large gap between slabs of concrete, it's like a sharp foot fall in between, that must have been a rough ride

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves you long time

Tried installing windows 10 on my moms PC it wigged out the network adapters so back to 7 it is lol. Kept saying limited connectivity first only on the wifi then it did it on the wired connection so i gave up.

Then i had to fix my moms friends laptop. It would randomly bsod and when restarted say something about no bootable device detected or some crap. Pulled the HDD out blew on the sata connection and so far its working good. Running a virus scan as i might have to format it and its going on 2 hours and not even 50% done yet......yay.....
