Removing passenger seat?

I'm looking to replace the passenger seat. I was looking under the seat and noticed 4 bolts that hold the seat itself to the bracket and slide mount on the floor. Can I remove the seat with just those 4 bolts or do I have to remove the whole seat, including all the metal junk underneath?
 


theres only 2 bolts behind the front passenger seat. remove those than lift up and pull. i think its 15mm or torqx bit.
 
Remove the headrest before you start, will make removal easier on you. Pull the metal junk underneath and all, 2 bolts like atj8 said.
 
^^^ yes forgot that part. also it helps to recline the seat down to get it out of the hooks
 
Are you talking about the 15mm bolt under the cover on the back of the passenger seat? It has a torx bit in the center?
 
look at back of seat then follow it down the the floor. then on the left and right side there will be 2 bolts look at you they are kinda under the seat slightly
 


Seat goes all the way forward. Unbolt seatbelt at seat (nut under soft cover). Remove black plastic bolt covers / floor mat hook. There may be screws on those, torx or phillips but they are down on the floor behind the seat. Once the black covers are removed, you see the big bolts which are hex and torx either way. Take those teo out and cram the headrest into the visor by tilting seat forward. Unplug connector under seat if equipped. Jiggle seat and it will unhook at the front while its raised way up.
 
Well I got the seat out. Instead of removing all the metal work underneath, I took the 4 bolts off that hold the seat itself to the metal frame. The front 2 bolts weren't an issue, the back 2 were the pain. There's a piece of foam that comes down right above the bolts and it's impossible to get the bolts back in. I have about 4 different gashes in my middle finger form trying to get those bolts back in (it's sharp down there). I did end up removing the 15mm bolts in the back and tilting the seat forward to give me more room and was finally able to get them in. But what I removed was all I needed. I don't need all the springs and sliders underneath. I'm just looking at replacing the bucket seat as mine is bad. I need to find one first though.
 
Things would've been 10x simpler if the bolts were bolted from the bottom up, not from the top down. I was considering putting a nut on the ends so I could do it from the bottom up, but there's not enough room on the stud to do so.
 
Congrats but that was an exercise in futility. Those bolts are murder even with the seat out. Seriously, it takes only a few minutes to remove and reinstall factory seats in a 97-03 GP. Maybe thats not what you have. Hope you heal up fast, keep those wounds clean.

I've got an '01 with leather. I was debating on cutting the foam off, but realized it acts like support, so I didn't.
 
I'm going to the junkyard on Saturday to find a new seat. I think I remember seeing a decent one, but would have to look at it more closely. If I do get one form the JY, I'm gonna leave it sit outside for a day or two and dry it out incase water got in it. I'm hoping I can "trade" for it. Give them my current seat and trade it for the seat I find. I don't see why they wouldn't. But that's what I'm hoping goes down when I go there.
 
Well I went to the JY this morning. Found a '97 or '98 (basing that off of the wheels) GTP coupe. Passenger seat was in good shape; no rips, nice and soft, no bumps in the middle of the seat. Just a bit of mud on it which could've been easily washed off. Was about to start taking it apart when I realized that since it was a coupe it had the little lever on the back of the seat to fold it up forward. I wasn't gonna have that in my car. I would be too obvious. That was the only nice seat I found. Damn, better luck next time. It was also pretty wet so I didn't spend as much time there as I would've liked. I'll probably go back some other time again this week.
 
Why did you go through all that extra work to remove a seat when 2 bolts gets the whole thing out easy peasy?? And look for 04+ seats. So much nicer. Replace the front pair and your body will thank you.
 


I would of took the two bolts on the back, and got the seat out by putting the seat forward/backwards for whatever leverage i need for the front hooks.

Removed my 01 leather seats, removed 05 cloth seats, put those in my car, removed 05 leather seats, put those in my car.

Those 4 bolts are useless, two bolts are easy to get out.
 
I actually considered putting '97-'03 cloth seats in. '04+ seats wouldn't match the door panels and would just be odd in my opinion. The cloth ones just seem more soft and I've never seen a ripped cloth seat yet at the JY. But then again, I'd have to fond a whole set of seats and door panels. I think I'll pass lol.
