GM should've put baffles in the gas tanks...

LOL Nice.

See, I would expect that, but in my case, I had a small amount of gas when I dropped the tank. And I had to drive up some hills, about a mile or so to the gas station. No stalling or nothing. When the pump went past the 33 gallon mark, I was pretty sure the tank was leaking. LOL
 


i hate when that low warning crap starts flashing and it starts dinging. every time it happens i think my trunk or a door is not shut tight. f'n thing should at least wait till it actually is low. i usually have at least 4.5 gallons when it starts acting up. 2 gallons left would be a good time for a warning not 4.
 
They must have cut that out after 2000 because of people complaining Lol. Although my low fuel light came on right after getting home last night. I should be able to make it to the house..... gas is too expensive in the city.

yep...same ding as when a door is ajar...lol ... and it goes on and off if you're going up and down hills. real pain in the balls stuff.
 
mine will chime when the low fuel light comes on.

but it will also come on if im stopped facing down a hill with a 1/4 tank, all of a sudden, its on E lol


ive delt with my share of leaking tanks and fill necks.

one place i worked at had a f 550 that was a pick up that they converted to a flat bed, the filler tube leaked like mad, and id complain and they do nothing, till i told them the station i fueled up at said i can no longer come there till its fixed, cause it would leak out a good 5 gallons during the fill up. truck was a diesel too. a diesel spill is worse than gas i think too.

Diesel is definitely worse than gas it stays slick and smells to high heavens for weeks and leaves a big stain.

Come o think of it anytime the DIC displays anything like cruise control,traction control, ABS, fuel low or windshield washer fluid it dings. But it doesn't go off over and over just the one time.
 
must be flat where you live. i live in a hilly area always going up or down and the fuel needle is all over the place ,so it will ding quite often.
 
Pretty flat the elevation change from Houston (43') above sea level to my house (187') so only 144' over a 20 mile distance. The quickest change in elevation is an overpass I have to go over lol. If you get out into Central Texas you get a lot of hills and changes of about 600' in that area.

it was a mess for sure. and embarrassing too.

same co, i tell them the clutch fan is stuck on full time, they are like so what pretty much. a month later i get in the truck and feel a real bad vibration, ( after the other driver took it on a 10 hour run to maryland and back) open the hood the fan bearing is like ready to fall apart lol i asked him if he felt the vibration and hes like nope......same club as the owners. looking back i with i had just driven the truck and blew it up for them. assholes ran that place.

i told them there was a problem. but no one cares or listens. the one truck i had to flat out refuse to drive it any more unless they fixed it. boy did that piss them off. lol

Thank god mine doesn't work. When I bought the car 4 years ago, I dropped the old owner off at his house and proceeded back to work. Within a few minutes I noticed a strange orange light on the dash. Took me a bit to clue in that it was the fuel light. No ding then, and no ding since. LOL

Hey at least you have a warning ding. Any time my door is open or a light comes on, nothing. It will ding very rarely every once in awhile.

Thanks to GM's "range warning" instead of an actual low fuel light I put 17.1 gallons in my Grand Prix last week. The "low range" light had only come on 10 miles before I stopped. If I had trusted the light, I would have ran out of gas since it comes on when you are below 40 miles of range.

One time in my Stealth I put 21.1 gallons in it. It has a 20 gallon tank.

And lastly, as others have already said, vapors do NOT take up space. When you turn the cap and hear that "chsss" that's the vapors that have built up escaping
