• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Congratulations on winning the most helpful Grand Prix site on the internet! I've been reading on here for almost a month, helping shape my choice in vehicle purchase. Years ago i had a 97 Grand Am that i very much enjoyed and now that i needed something to put a car seat in it was time to consider a Pontiac again. So after searching quite a bit I decided I wanted comfort and reliability over power and fun (have a bike for that). I settled on a 2003 Grand Prix SE with the 3.1. Hear me out though. It only has 61000 and is in beautiful shape. So I'll be doing some cosmetic and electronic nmodifications but hopefully nothing mechanical. I'm looking forward to talking with all of you and enjoying this nice ride.

Swap an L67 in there lol. Anyway, welcome!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

I'm assuming the LIM is straight preventative, I've seen several threads/mentions of it. Given enough write ups and YouTube advice in assuming even an ameauture could pull it off?

As far as the swap goes I know that's over my head. Maybe in a different life. Or maybe once I drive this one into the dust I'll just get a gxp...

Correct in doing the LIM gasket as preventative maintenance. If you wait too long, you're motor is gonna start burning coolant and if that persists, your motor can start to suffer from it. There are some good vids on YouTube showing how to do it. In my opinion, it seems more difficult than the 3.8L, but there's people on here that can help you out if you need it! Also, since the body has no rust, keep up on cleaning the rockers to make sure they don't rust out. 8/10 SE's I see are rusted out. Also check out your rear strut towers to make sure they aren't rusted out. Dangerous situation if they are.

It's fairly straight forward actually; disconnect this, disconnect that, remove this hose, unclip that, etc. Once you get passed removing all the stuff on top, it's a matter of just removing bolts. I'd probably do this on a weekend so if something happens to go wrong, you have plenty of time to fix it and continue with the repair. Make sure to have plenty of fuel injector o-rings. They can be a tricky situation trying to get out sometimes.
