Thinking of buying a Maxima

clearly you have no idea the difference in torque a supercharged 3800 makes vs your precious vq........ lol ohhh god how i wish i had a go pro stuck to the back bumper of my car when countless 350z's and 370z's disappeared rather quickly from sight behind me haha.

ohh and a hint the srt chargers with the 6.1s are faster than both the 350z and 370z so why dont you take a look in the race/kilks section at the as$ ripping i handed one out in wash dc. lol said srt8 charger owner cried to jayroca another member on here that video'd the race claiming i must have sprayed him.....

the thought of making a maxima quicker for less money with easier to find parts than any w body makes me laugh....

im done here have fun with your maxipad..... please buy a white one.......... haha!

How much money have you dumped into your car just to get where you are now?

I have basically his exact same setup and I would guess I have less than $2000 in aftermarket parts on the car. On a sh1t tune with more knock than i would like to talk about i made 300whp. No way a maxima is gonna touch that number for anywhere near that price. Granted i did all my own work including Cam, E85 conversion, etc. But less than $2000 in parts and 300whp is pretty good. That's easy a 100+ over stock.

No maxima could do that without a turbo and intercooler.

Ok. A 2003 Maxima has 255 horsepower, stock. A NICE Grand Prix will run, lets say $3000. Plus $2000 like you mentioned, you get about $5000 for a 300 horsepower car. Now, Japanese cars are very easy to mod (ie. Civic's, Accord's, Nissan's, Mitsubishi's, etc.) If you spend $2000 on a Maxima, you will be pushing more power than the modded Grand Prix. Also I just noticed that you drive a GTP? If you're talking about this car where you spent $2000 to gain 40 horsepower, no offense, that's pathetic. GM has to either make engines with huge displacement values or supercharge them to keep up with the competition. 6.1L? What are you driving, a truck? I mean come on.

No dude. I spent $2000 to gain 100 whp. My 300 hp is at the wheels. Stock my gtp came with about 200 at the wheels maybe less. an 03 maxima will have 200 or less at the wheels too. Drive train loss is a thing. Google it.

Not sure if you're a troll or just a dumb nissan fanboy but read a few threads on this site before you say anything else stupid.

Also i can't wait for vet to get in here and rip you a new one.

Drive train loss is a thing with the maxima too and there's a thing called torque... Hp isn't everything ya kno

2002(3) Maxima SE torque: 246 ft-lb
0-60: 5.9s
2004(5) GTP torque: 280 ft-lb
0-60: 6.4s

What's 98vet gonna do? Brag about beating cars in his Grand Prix that he spent probably more than the cars value on mods. The fact I have to compare a 3.8L SUPERCHARGED to a 3.5L N/A, is embarrassing. I mean, I hope a car with 0.3L more with a supercharger is gonna have more torque, but it shouldn't be by 40ft-lb's. Let's talk about engine maintenance. A Maxima will burn oil like a mad man, no doubt about that, but just add oil every fill up. Annoying, but doable. A Grand Prix's gotta have the LIM gasket replaced, VC gaskets blow and leak oil. Not as bad as burning oil. but then oil gets all over your engine. Flush out the DEX-COOL, and the transmissions like to go on them frequently.

Go to a Nissan forum please.

Your comparing a lim/vc/coolant flush to a motor that burns oil... Seriously. A lim/vc/coolant flush.. Takes what 2-3 hrs to do if that....easy fix.. Burning oil.. Not so much a easy fix. Just about every car has its weakness in the transmission don't beat on it or drive like a asshat and chances are you'll getting plenty of life out of it.

Doesn't get much cheaper then modding a Wbody.. Think those parts are expensive better look a prices for just about every other other platform..

Lol, you guys still at it? Both sides have good points. If you want powah go with the prix. It's cheap to get there (compared to other cars) and parts are plentiful. If you looking a more fun car I say pick the max. But remember but platforms are dead anyways lol. I would say I'm biased but ive had both and they have their ups and downs and the oil burning issue? Not to bad. To maintain. Just keep an quart in ya trunk. Or rebuild your engine with better seals Lmao.
