Post Whoring - 5.5.1 - We have a turd in the punch bowl

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

New cars man. Maybe they can't make them like they used to. I've mentioned before my aunt's brand new Chrysler 200 had to be towed 3 times because something in the electronics kept failing. They finally figured it out and fixed it.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

That T-bird we're fixing has the 352, and we had a new project arrive today with the same thing, a 67 short wide. I was saying both need 390s but had to duck a hail of Ford lover responses, lol. Steel crank blah blah, I went back to MMOB.

Blue, the ol Dodge looks shot! Dadgummit folks ought to look underneath every now and then. I'd hate to be next to that on the highway going 70!

Moved the Pontiac project to the Pontiac stall where the Pontiac fan dwells. The one with the Pontiac clock hanging on the wall and photos of even more glorious and beautiful Pontiacs taped to the pegboard. I'm glad because I love Pontiacs and especially Grand Prixs! I mis-spoke about this car earlier... seems I had the wrong idea and this thing IS pointed to Vegas in November. Pontiacs are fast, so we'll make it. Its rotisserie-bound asap, but not until the mock-up is tight. Oh yeah and notice the hands on the Pontiac clock... 455, Pontiac time!

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

Zee Audi will be in 5th by 30mph. Cracks me up.

The elder GP grabs second after about one tire rev in D then 3rd by like 15 or 20. Then she doesn't shift again and that cracks me up cuz at 60 yer lookin at 2500 and AAAAAAAAAAA....

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

I read the manual the other night. Had not paid attention to the shifter. Past D is an S. In an automatic, I just don't pay attention. Slap it in D and if I would like more speed, I press the right pedal appropriately.

Reading, I found out.. the S stands for "Say goodbye". Drop her into that and it's FU mode. Being Quattro.. there is no tire squealing, there's simply smaller things in the rear view. (Like Daves Saab or Ranger)

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

dont you lie to me that S says good bye to your wallet when its time to fix it......

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

I'll run ya, Bill. What do the kid-glovers say the standing quarter #s are?

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

Looks like stock it'll do around a 14 from all the usual magazine drivers. What's the ole girl throw down?

She feels good off the line, and I'm quite impressed at the top end. If you want, let's start off from a stop and run for a couple of miles. Seems like you'd do well off the line and I'd reel you in once you topped out.

Mine runs about that. Yanks harder than one might think for a car it's size. 4400 lbs approx = traction. I can get all but the last 20-30 MPH out of it within a 1/4 so of course anything with overdrive will catch up or blow up. Whats your 60 ft? Me and my car are both lazy but love to bench race. Last time I went to Tulsa to drag the line was too long so I split. So I have no docs on the 455. The 400 got me a 14.2 once with tiny tires. I was having to stretch second with big tires to make the line but the smaller ones got me into 3rd good and shaved .4! The 1-2 bang was iffy that way though. BTW the 455 went in in '09. Here some ancient 400 and primer action if you want to click and watch. It was a lazy smog head loper, the 455 is a torquey config that pulls hard to oh 5,200.

edit: the 14.2 pass was the last one on here- and the Ventura is my buddy, its the car I traded him for the GP.

Short crappy 455 vid just makin noise:

I haven't had a single issue with my 200s and hope to keep it that way.

No idea on 60 foot, it's awd with 310 tq at the moment. Super low first gear because.. well it's awd.

We can always hook a chain between em and see who makes forward movement! Stump-pulling style.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

You do know...if I can get you spinning... I've got you Quattro might be more of an advantage than you wanna give me.

You've got 400lbs on me, but I've got two more tires pulling.

This could be interesting.

Whatever the chain is hooked to rips off the Audi because unibody maybe? Since TH400s and 12 bolts aren't twiggy lawn tractor stuff I don't have to do one steady pull and I can bump the Torkmaster around and break your tires loose (or the trans). Don't forget theres 275s and 255s for contact patches and extra weight right over my axle. But this chain is gonna have to be pretty long. Wanna do it on gravel with a short chain? I'm game for that. :th_biggrin1:

I don't think we should try it... the kids might get ideas or place bets plus theres a yellow streak down my back and you love your bellybutton car. Hey... my L67 S-10 vision is getting clearer though and that could be a little fun-mobile too. But the big GP would still drag it all over town or break it. We're having this faux bench race to raise the hot rod fever level, aren't we? I am kinda fiending the drags now. Or a tractor pull maybe.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

Backing down already? Geez Matt I figured you'd see this through and not bail out the second someone explains that if you start spinning, I'm not going to let you gain traction.

However.. I honestly have another plan in place. I'm just gonna hit your car. Seems the thing to do these days :th_laugh-lol3:

Only downside is...Bill's car won't break. And, the Quattro will keep moving the power to different wheels to keep them from breaking loose. It is the most advanced AWD system on the planet after all. You should see the video of the Touareg pulling the 747...it shows the AWD switch back and forth between the wheels for traction.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

Might I add... I used the Regal as a tow truck. Used a half ton truck as a full ton or better and ... I'm not afraid of a GP, even if it is older and solid. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

I didn't see the AWD in action, but either way it was being used I'm sure.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

Hmmm, pretty sure PCB isn't supposed to warp like that lol....

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

You'd be amazed, I've had motherboards warp from cooler all the time. Most of the time the case will straighten it back out, but I've never had any performance problems out of them.

Re: Post Whoring Thread 3.0 - Bill loves zee Germans, forget you W-Body guys

I think im gonna get creative with fishing line or redo the power cables to more support the card. Ideally I'd love too water cool it but of course Gigabytes warranty is void if i pull the cooler off.
