A bIt of background information, I finally put plates back on the GP after having it parked for 2 years or so. A few weeks back I had a few abs related codes CO131,C0035,C0240 all pointing toward a ebcm issue. Well I couldn't find a suitable replacement in the boneyard so I sent it off for repair. Got it back installed it no abs codes. Went ahead and took care of a few maintenance issues. Outer tierods, moog CA, Dorman sway bar (dropped the sub frame slightly on install). I'm well aware I need a alignment but wanted to drive it first to make sure all other issues are buttoned up before I take it in for a alignment. After driving for a few minutes probably hit 40mph or so.. I get a abs/dtc C0710 I can clear it but it'll come back within a few minutes. Looking online and through the service manual it seems to indicate a issue with the steering position sensor. Doesn't seem to be common problem but has anyone had this issue? Going through the service manual it seems that one of the steps before replacing the sensor is to do what's called a steering angle sensor center procedure which I don't have access to a tech ll to perform myself so I imagine I'm better off grabbing a replacement sensor and doing the repair. The boneyard still has a 04 and I can pull the SWPS from. From my understanding it's located in the steering column, is it a straight forward removal/repair? Pop the air bag. Remove kick panel plastic/bracket,/trim around the steering wheel etc.. what tools are needed to further break down the column? Any help would be appreciated.

Odd question, what does the service manual say about the procedure? :th_nanana: May be wise to check that procedure to find out if a new sensor also requires the relearn. If it does, I'd bring the car in for the procedure, then if that doesn't fix it .. replace.
 
Or..since it's a crappy GP, you might want to try unhooking the battery overnight, see if it resets itself.

If that doesn't work, unhook the battery and walk away for another two years
 
Nah..I am learning a new car by reading and scouring. Hence no time to hold a GP guy's hand (plus neither of us is gay, uh..well maybe you are.. I'm not), you have the books, read up dude.
 
Someone's joins the Schattenseite... So do all GP's have this or is it just the Comp models? My 05' has had the steering wheel at the 10 o'clock position for a couple of weeks now until I but new tires and get an alignment.
