ILoveAudi's 98 GTP - Turbo Hoopty

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

You seem to be replacing a lot of stuff that was already recently replaced..........like a lot.

The car already had a racetronix pump in it and when putting in the canister a new level sensor was used (installed by Billboost)

It also has a solid mount (filled with silicon) installed at the same time.

Dan also told me that he replaced the pump with a stock one. I also never got those 105# springs like you said, instead you gave me l76 springs. You also never told me the motor started knocking after the demod and you did an engine swap. You also did strut mounts and not struts, when the plan was to do struts. Sooo....

I just typed out this long response and computer crashed.....so here are cliff notes
Fuel pump should be racetronix. Looked through my paypal history and I have no sold one around or since selling you the car.
L76 springs where installed. You wanted a 1.9 rocker setup and L76 are perfect for the task. At the time you went with a cam spring should have been upgraded and Dan should have told you that knowing the car has L76 springs in it.3
Threads internally on the crank were damaged during cam removal for demod. Dan said he was able to get a lower mileage good running L67 and that's what was put in the car.
Both Dan and I thought the strut mount was the cause so that's what was replace. This was fully disclosed prior to you picking up the car.

This is the second occasion I've heard someone get questionable parts or cars from the same person.

Considering I've also bought parts from the same user,

which I've since learned

have had

numerous problems in the past

I would like to hear from the original source to dispel these concerns before passing judgment.

(For reference the parts I and a number of others bought were sold here)

Please go into a little more detail here.....If you're referring to 1.9's HS rockers they were purchased directly from Harland Sharp and I have not heard one single complaint about them.

For anyone else that wants to chime in.......why is this the first time that I'm hearing about it? If you have a problem with me go directly to the source........

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

Dan said it was either the control arm or the strut
I have the old pump sitting around if you'd like to see. As for the springs, it doesn't matter what spring is good for roller rockers, we agreed on things and you changed them without notifying me. I never bothered to cause drama with it, but when you say one thing and give a customer another without telling them.... that's a little shady.

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

It's not like the car has been some problem child... it's been great. I wouldn't have cared had you told me along the way.

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

Just a quick response on my part...

When I did the turbo setup on that car, we (Bill and I) did install a new pump and level sender. I know this because I used the old one to fix a Blazer.

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

I'm not saying there wasn't a new pump installed at some point.

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

Control arms were replace by previous owner I believe. L76 vs 105's on a rocker setup which I recall was the way you planned on keeping the car for a very long time. L76 were brand new and better suited for the 1.9 rockers.

This car ran great for me during the time that I owned it. Other people on the forum have seen the car in person, driven it, worked on it, and have only had good things to say about it.

Re: ILoveGM's 98 GTP - Slow ****box Runs Again!

Regardless, there were things that were done and decisions that were made without my knowledge. Honesty and communication are key when selling. I expect to get what I asked for and agreed on, just as everyone else would.

IDK what you've been told or whatever...but I've known Greg for years and he's been nothing but a stand up guy and backed everything he's said with his actions.
