What should I do?

Hey what's up guys I wanted to make my GP a sports car at one point :D ... silly me, that idea is long gone and dead now. Lately, I've been thinking about selling my GP and buying an Fbody for a DD and track days. But tbh, what I really want is a C5 summer car but I can't afford a decent C5 yet. But the Fbody idea is still on the table depending on the pricing. If I wanted to make my GP a powerful 'GT' cruiser, how much would it run me? I know 300 crank hp is very very easy, cheap and simple to pull from the GP. But I was thinking more like 350 at the wheels (400+ crank at least) instead of 300 at the crank. What would be the cheapest way to get to those numbers? Is a turbo the answer, if so, how much would it cost w/ the tranny build? If we're gonna run over $7k here there honestly is no point of upgrading the GP, rather an LT or an LS1 Fbody would get the job done. But I absolutely love the styling of the GP which is why I'm asking one last question.

The cost of the go fast parts plus the $3-4k transmission just to survive that power and you are already talking F-body money.

You'd have a more reliable car if you just went with a F-body, they already make 300ish horsepower and it's RWD.

I have both. 02 ws6 and 02 gtp. If you want raw power go ls (lots more money) but if you want smoother quieter car that is easier to get in and out of go gp. I am glad I don't need to choose. You can guess my other Pontiac by my name.

I'm probably going LT though since there's this one LT car in my area that's low mileage and cheap. But yup this is the end of the road for the GP. And I have a family Lacrosse that no one uses so I'll be fine, the Lacrosse rides a lot better than the GP, smoother, quieter and even more responsive (but still handles a lot worse). A Z28 sounds fun! :) Had a lot of love for the 3800 motor tho :(

I personally love my LT1 Camaro. Never drove an LS1, but the LT1 can still take down most cars on the street, and RWD is a lot more fun than FWD. Not to mention an LT1 F body can be bought for pretty cheap now. Try to find a 95-97, because the vented optispark distributor will keep a lot of headaches away. Had the water pump leak all over mine, and it still runs fine.

Definitely check this review out: https://sites.google.com/site/brangeta/productioninfo/buyers-guide

You can find 5 speed 3800 fbodies for cheap... grab one and put a turbo and clutch it and go nuts.

I wanted to do that, but here's the problem... I talked to ZZP and they told me it'd be an expensive build. I mean.... it's ridiculously easy to pull power from the GM V8s both the LT or the LS. You can do 400 whp with bolt-ons on those things. I don't know, a 5-speed 3800 sounds really good since it's so cheap but the build ... the build sounds expensive.

zzp is just lazy... Make your own kit and throw the AC in the trash and you are good to go. You can bring it up here and ill do the "hard bits" of tuning and stuff for beer (well not beer but you get the idea).

A turbo 3800 sounds awesome! There's plenty of low 100k mi V6 F-bodies around, but make my own kit? It sounds really complicated doing alone even with the help of a forum. But you're in MI too, can I pay you a visit to Flint to do some work if we do go that route? Or another idea, sell the GP, do a tranny build on the lacrosse and turbo that? I don't know but the 3800 Fbody sounds really cool and different. But is 350+ bhp achievable at a price of an LS1 or LT1? ($7k, LT1 $8-12K LS1)
