Dirty Black 06 GXP - Retrofits and Trans Soon...

Bought this gem in the rough a few weeks ago after determining the Comp G (http://www.grandprixforums.net/polo-green-gtp-comp-gee-pree-79621.html) likely has a scored cylinder. (has been burning oil since LIM job was done, which before that it burnt the coolant) Here's a video of it after sitting running for 10-15 minutes:https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10200588389620025&set=vb.1467790694&type=2&theater

Anyways bought the GXP for a decent price and it currently has 78k on the clock. It has a Magnaflow catback, around 30k on the transmission with a cooler attached at install, tinted windows, tinted reverse bar, tinted brake lights. The reverse bar and lights need to be redone, though. The paint is rough on some areas of the car like the right front, part of the right rear, and the drivers mirror. Going to swap headlights with the comp g soon since those are nearly new.

And the pictures (taken with a GoPro Hero 3 since I dont have a real camera and my phone camera lens is dented)
Just took these, it's about to rain so I didn't bother washing up the car...I'll get some cleaner pictures this weekend.

Re: Hella Dirty Black GXP Pree

Just swapped the headlights from the comp g. One is a GM the other is the Eagle Eye brand, which the rubber is coming off on and the bottom has a couple openings apparently because theres some dark looking junk that seemed through. I knew the previous owner put different bulbs in the GXP for the brights, but the dims were different as well. The numbers on them were 9005 and 9006. Anyways, the GXP looks a bit better with the now clear headlights.

Re: Hella Dirty Black GXP Pree

Oh, woops didn't really explain there. Probably not too noticeable in the pictures, but the plastic on the GXP's lights were all scratched looking and starting to fog while the ones on the Comp G were like new.

Currently debating whether to get a new engine or not for the Comp G, or just have a friend of my dads take it to a dealer auction. Or see if the problem is something else, like something done wrong during LIM gasket replacement.

Re: Hella Dirty Black GXP Pree

Save the money for the comp g part it out sell it.....proceed to make unwise investment in the Gxp. At lease that way I won't feel alone anymore lol

Not getting rid of the seats out of either of them. :)

HD lip done yesterday. Put it on too fast, so it doesn't look flush really at all in person. Next time I'll take my time.

Just thinking about what I want to do next...

Re: Hella Dirty Black GXP Pree

for starters i though you stole my car until i seen the there was no stock nav, 2 please change your tires lol

Decided to build some retros. Ordering once I know what all I need. Currently on the list is a new set of headlights, dremel, jb weld, ceiling light panel, bi-xenon morimoto mini stage iii kit (morimoto mini h1 6.0 projectors, morimoto xb35 ballasts, 3five 4300k bulbs, mini graphite shrouds, hd relay 9006 wire harness, 70mm white halos, and butyl rubber clue)

If anything doesn't sound right, something's missing, or you have any suggestions, let me know.

Wisconsin law requires an amber light AND and an amber reflector. I'm not worried about being busted for it, I had a set of tinted headlights on with the side markers completely covered up for over a year without any issues. I might play it safe though by putting some amber tape on the bottom of the clear lens so it only shows in the third oval.
