I've been working on this thing since I bought it about 18 months ago. so far I have installed a full size phenolic intercooler and have a 3.1 pulley on, a dynotech trans with dynotech input shaft and 7/8's chain, North Star TB, 42 lb injectors, 2500 stall TC, Custom hood scoop, JVC deck with 1500 watt amp paired to a 10" sub, it has been tuned a little, but not completely. in the spring I am going to take it to the local 1/8th mile track and put on a set of mickey thompson et streets that are mounted to a set of 18X8 gxp wheels to see what it will run.

I have installed KYB AGX shocks all around, left the rear springs stock and installed lowering springs on the front. GMPP from and rear sway bars, GMPP rear strut tower brace, otto racing front strut tower brace. ZZP rear trailing arms. An EP LSD, poly engine mount, poly upper engine mounts, and a triple gauge pod.

this winter sometime I have a set of heads ported by Chris Hinson to install, and an xp cam. I am thinking about spraying methanol.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

I wouldn't use GXP wheels; they're heavy as hell.

Methanol is meh, unless you've got a tuner on hand to constantly mess with it. The XP and IC should warrant a 2.6" easy and will be plenty without the meth. Then you'll be able to max out the blower and upgrade that.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

I wasn't planning on changing to a gen v, though it may end up being beneficial. the gen 3 I have on now is ported pretty good, and I don't want to have to mess with changing the intercooler. I picked up the GXP wheels with slicks on them basically for 100 bucks. It was too good of a deal to turn down. I haven't decided for sure to run methanol or not. I have a dhp, and if I can learn what will need to be adjusted for the methanol then that will be one less obstacle in the way. I thought about running nitrous, but have decided not to because no one sells it within 85 miles. I can get methanol easily.

I couldn't stand those steel wheels. I really hate black wheels. I have a set of 04+ gt wheels on now

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

Winter status gets it done.

Steelies, hah.

I like it.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

Why would GXP wheels be too heavy?

Torque stars with tires last I checked was around 40lbs. a piece with a tire mounted to them. They're light.

Total shipping weight for the staggered set of ALCOA's, which are lighter were just over 210~ lbs. So you're adding quite a bit of rotating mass.

The trans and hubs like that a lot. <<<<<<<<<<<<internet sarcasm :)

those steel wheels should be moderately easy to come. the ones I got rid of had a bit of surface rust on them, so that was another reason I didn't like them.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

just installed L32 heads ported by chris hinson and an xp cam. haven't gone full throttle on it yet, but driving around town it feels a lot more powerful. just have a P0401 code to fix which is the egr insufficient flow and the car should be ready to go. pretty excited to see what it does, and a bit nervous.

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

I found a guy that does vinyl wraps, he said he could vinyl wrap my scoop if it will come off, or he could do the whole hood. 250 for the whole hood, 100 for just the scoop. anyone have any experience with vinyl wraps?

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

Seems a bit high of a price to me. They Last about 3 years in South Texas, if you take care of them. why dont you just paint it?

Re: My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition

if I just sanded the coating off and painted it the scoop would be flimsy and would flap around while driving down the highway. do you know if its possible to paint the vinyl to match the rest of the car?
