what pulley should I be able to run

I know every one is always asking the "what pulley can I run" question, so here I go doing the same thing. right now I have a full size phenolic intercooler, ported gen 3, inlet opened to 75 mm, N* tb, 42 lb injectors, headers, I put a new rotor pack in my gen 3 and it has the gen 5 rotor coating on it, I put in a dynotech built transmission with 7/8's chain and dynotech input shaft, 2500 stall TC from ZZP. right now I have my transmission programmed to hold 2nd gear all the way to 100 mph under 50%+ load. no rockers, cam or head work yet. I also have a Engineered Performance LSD. I have a friend that I've been working with to get the tune dialed in, we are going to install a wideband and then get the wot tuning done. my temp sensor gauge in the lim usually shows the temp is close to ambient. I have a set of L32 heads ported with 90 lb springs and an xp cam that I will be installing this winter sometime.

I have a 3.1 on now with no kr so far, if I continue to see no kr I have a 3.0 to put on. after I put the heads and cam on, what pulley do you guys think will be good?

As long as the tune is in check, yes.

You want a leaner side of AFR, think mid 11's...timing above 16*, always.

Might want to run a 2.6" when all is said and done.
 
Ide look into a fuel pump if yours is still stock. Also you say you have no kr but whats your timing at wot? if its below 17-18* your losing power. Ide say if your running 18* at 11.5:1 afr then gauge your pulley size there.

Also forgot to mention, ide run 110s with the cam and think about a vs. sure the xp makes more peak power but the vs overall is a better cam for street and even at the track your gonna have alot more low end power and it will be steady throughout the entire powerband where as the xp is kind of like powerband and you really cant get the most out of that cam without better springs double roller ect.
 
I thought about doing higher springs, but I already have the 90 lb springs and am trying to save a little. I ended up going with the xp because they are easier to find. I was going to double check that my timing is where it should be, but we are getting some bad weather today and wont be able to. If I see someone selling a vs cam or looking to trade I will be interested.

You can get a brand new set of 110s for 100 bucks and used for alot cheaper. Do yourself a favor even if running the xp, get some 110s. You could potentially have premature wear with the 90s.
 
90#ers are much to light for an xp
get some 105s or 110s, only a hundred bucks, thats a bad place to cheap out on a cam install

this is what I found when I asked around about using 90 lb springs and an xp cam. will I be able to rev it higher with 105 or higher lb spring? I am sure, but I am ok with only using a 90 lb spring.
 
I think that is correct. I looked at the cam comparison chart and saw that the xp cam makes peak hp at 3500 rpm so I dont really see the need to rev it higher than 6000.

Whats not untrue is that the vs cam will make more power without reving the xp to the moon aka running a better valvetrain setup than 110s. The reason for running 110s is not just so the xp can rev higher but because the 90s cause more wear. But to be able to rev the xp higher without valve float, hense losing power you need to run higher than 110s. Running higher than 110s is going to require to run a double roller, getting it machined, modded retainers( might as well go titanium at this point) To me besides maby the cooler sound which unless you run the better valvetrain as described you really shouldnt set the idle that low anyway, the vs cam is a better option in every way.
 


Screw the valve spring debate for a second your gonna need bigger injectors than 42.5s if you want to go smaller than a 3.0 on pump gas!! And for damn sure 42s wont cut it on the good stuff! COUGH COUGH E85....

As for the valve springs I don't get why people go bonkers on springs unless you can see valve float and it makes no sense to rev these engines to the moon anyways.

I have 105s on my S1X cam.
Jayroca has 130s on a XP cam.

Makes ZERO sense to me when people compare S1X and the XP cam all the time.

I could be wrong but a lighter spring should free up more HP with out putting as much stress on the timing chain......... (so long as it doesn't float obviously)

n/m im def not paying attention, he didnt mention e85.... therefor stock injectors are fine. Smaller injectors with a bigger pump causes more fuel vapor, causing more power. Bigger injectors with small pump causes gas to poor into cylinder not getting burnt losing power.

lol what was that about the VS cam?

I asked about if it was still on pump gas, on a pump gas 3.0 would be pushing it I'll bet on the 42s

Annnnnd like I said if it does go E85 the 42s will certainly be too small.

Edit: once the injectors go static I don't care what pump you have....

Its been proved that stock injectors and bigger pump can make way more power than what he is.
 


How do I check my injectors flow rate on the aeroforce? Can't go E85, no one sells it within 85 miles. Still on stock pump, I have done the fuel pump require.
 
Proved where? He already has 42s why in the hell would he go backwards and put stock injectors in?
