• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My Bonneville. Retrofitted!

Moar pics. Aimed the headlights up a touch. Will be getting a redo with FX-Rs this summer, or maybe those new square shaped morimotos? We will see. Here's some pics of the hooptieville.

love the output! and yea those square morimotos would be sweet. i want to see if there is any light output difference and what they look like

*blows dust off*

Not sure where it would be most appropriate to post this but I have a long running issue:

Yeah so basically my interior lighting just doesn't work, and this is very annoying because I cannot see how fast I am going at night. None of the red illumination works. Only the window switches and lock buttons on both front doors still work. Furthermore, the license plate lights also do not work, which in some places might get me pulled over. All the gauge needles work fine, as with all the LCD screens on the radio and the climate control. The LED indicators for things such as the heated seats or rear defrost also work fine. Very weird and random problem. All fuses and relays are good. Looks like a short? And it would appear that the license plate illumination is related to the red back lighting on all the gauges.

Any and all help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, if not simply for the sake of seeing my speedometer and other instruments... I just miss that good old Pontiac red glow.

As mentioned, things I've checked: fuses, relays, dimmer switch...

Had someone with a TechII look at it a while back, and nope.

Also, I was given a head unit that had a iPod hook up installed. Some of the incandescent bulbs inside were replaced with LED bulbs. Could that have done something like a surge or short? I'm starting to believe that that is the issue. But now I don't know how to address it.

I recently had a problem where my interior lights would not turn OFF. Knowing what I know now, here's how I would proceed.

Isolate the problem. Not sure how the Bonnies are wired, but on the GP's, there's a large wire harness plug (the kind with a bolt in it) under the glove box. When I disconnected that, the remaining lights (front foot wells, dash...) worked like they should. That told me the short was AFTER that part of the harness. If your problem persists after disconnecting that plug, I would focus on something under the dash.

If I'm wrong, or if there's a better way, I'm sure someone will speak up, but this is the process I used to find my problem.

That's a very helpful post, I'll have to look around. I can't imagine the Bonne is TOO different from the GPs. I'm guessing the LEDs shorted the wire immediately after the dock n' lock.

In the mean time, hopefully someone else can spew some more ideas in here.

For sure. I forgot to mention, but I'm sure you already know, doing what I said will set a MIL. So you'll have to have a way to clear them.

Well at this point they're about the same price, but I agree. These 2000+ Bonnevilles are my favorite 3800 powered cars. They still manage to look somewhat contemporary, and the quality of the interior materials is a little better versus the GPs and Regals. Also the seats.... Mmmmm.

The GP did get the Bonne steering wheel after a certain year did it not? Plus you guys have an actual aftermarket and a huge community. I guess there are trade offs to everything.

I appreciate the compliments though. I haven't put pictures of it up yet, but the zip ties are gone finally! Got the front end fixed and sprayed this past summer.

Thanks, the retro has to be my favorite mod that I've done, along with clearing all the corners. Very tough though, the Bonne headlight is very cramped.

I got it out a little better with a rubber mallet, but it definitely isn't going to get any better than it is now. Sad to say, it's gonna have to stay wrinkled.

Next on the list is a Pioneer DEH-80PRS, along with MLV on the doors and floor. After that, I'll see how the system sounds. Going for pure sound quality here. Might get some new components for the front doors, depending on how my current Pioneer comps sound after the radio swap.

As for maintenance, car needs a new fuel filter since it still has the factory one at almost 100k miles. Just got new brakes all around, and new Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S tires a couple weeks back.

Still debating that square projector retro, I guess I will see how good of deals TRS will be having on Black Friday.

It's hard to explain, but the car is worth more to me than what it is worth in $$$, which is probably no more than $2500. I almost turbo'd it but pussied out because I was scared to grenade the trans and kill my DD, which I rely on greatly. I'll be driving it till the wheels fall off. Might get something after I finish school in a year or so, but this one is stuck with me unless someone smashes it even worse. If she does get killed, I've always dreamed about putting her motor in a Fiero, since this L36 is very special. Went through some crazy **** when the UIM failed.

Awkward.... my fuel filter is still factory @ almost 160k miles and after a topswap and its been on/off e85 once or twice... lol

Oh... Well see it's not like the car is running badly or there is anything pointing to the fact that I need a new filter. It's just such a cheap part, and since the car is nearing 100k I figured I will do it when it gets a little warmer. Hahaha.
