Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hayden Adjustable Thermostatic Fan Control

i had one of them, not sure on the brand, but it didnt last a month till it cooked its self up. i then powered my fans with a on off switch hooked up to a power on fuse.

had it controlling these two fans on my 03 gmc. and i used a relay for each fan too, i emailed the co i got it from, with no reply at all. so i ate that 80 bucks.

i treated mine like a fog light install. you need to run a relay or two.

just run the green wire here to a fuse with a add a fuse inside the cab to power them on and off at will, vs the battery. even with the t stat. never know when you just dont want them to come on.

for me it was when running through floods, id turn them off. winter time id hardly even use them if i was on the highway. ( i played a lot with them) id also turn them off when warming up the truck in the winter time.

if you need all the wires and relay still, just buy a fog light install kit, comes with enough wire the relay and a on off switch. for like 20 bucks.

a second relay is like 6 bucks.

i ran one power wire from the battery, same for the ground, then split the wire to both relays, same with the on off switch, split that to both relays, then wire the left and right fans to a relay each.

i put the switch under my dash out of the way and outta sight too, as its left in the on position 99% of the time. fan still turn off when the truck was turned off.

its much nicer to buy a box of female wire ends to fit on the relays and switch too. relays and switch got male metal tabs, the female slide right on it.

Thanks for your reply, Scotty, but I need to know how to install this specific unit that I mentioned in this thread.

iirc mine went between the fans and the relays. so its powered all the time when the car is on.

post your diagram for its wiring. maybe that will help us guide you more if we can see what your part wants to run right. look it up on line, maybe they got on line direction for it

the t stat thing tells the fans to come on. thats the probe on the wire, ( why it needs full time power to it) it goes through the fins of the rad. put it on the return side of the rad high up, but like 3 inches down from the top.

I did that, but the problem is I don't know how to wire it all up. I did it one way and the fan came on with the key on the off position. So, that wasn't correct. I tried it a few other ways and nothing happened, it never came on.

It only has two prongs coming out of the thermostat control module. One has a C under it and the other has a 2 under it. I don't understand the diagram/instructions that came with it. Which I posted here.

Maybe this will help!

and you followed those directions? should work. the V pointing to the butt connectors its just showing the but splices, you dont tie them together with the V.

looks like you split a pos wire out of the fuse box, split it, one side to the switch, the other to the pos side of the t stat. then ground the ground wire to the fan, then run the other pos wire of the fan to the switch and tap the t stat wire into it as well.

thats a super cheap o unit. not even using a relay, i bet it burns up in a week if you get it to even work. that being said, id try to add a relay to that set up.

Yea, it's my old man's car. He has been working on this problem for a couple days now and he can't figure it out. I hate to have to tell him that it isn't any good....lol "a piece of ****"

like i said, i spent like 80 on mine, cause it was for a dual fan set up, fully adjustable. cooked in less then a month. i was pissed off.

if you follow my fog light diagram, you can run the switch deal to them. at least you know they are working.

It may just be a brand new POS, thats the lowest quality choice Hayden offers. Theres only two wires to connect: one hot, one ground. Which is which depends on which way the fan blows when you hook it up. If it blows forward, switch the wires around. I spent about $40 and got the #3647, I believe. It works perfect and has done so for several years. Uses a relay and was an easy install even though I am a wiring goof. The instructions for that item are very clear, and are an easy PDF find on the web. Never have needed to adjust it, it comes on at 215 and goes off at 210 which is just right.

Mine is connected to a a BAT power source rather than IGN, to control heat soak after shutdown. My ride needs that, but yours will be fine on IGN switched power if sourced in the right location (a properly fused accessory feed circuit like when you hook up a stereo) for connecting accessories. The battery charge doesn't get run down much if you use a BAT source because its only on if the temp is too hot. It doesn't hurt anything but that setup is much safer with a relay. You should probably cut losses and just go score a decent kit with a relay and better adjuster, to get past this issue with the least drama and best results.
