What oil filter should I use

Lol. The biggest reason I won't use fram is when using them, I have dry starts which means they have a crappy anti-drainback valve and they will prematurely wear an engine down over time. I had very very fine shavings on my magnetic drain plug. I fixed this issue by switching to Wix/NAPA filters and had no more issues.
 


How about sticking with factory AC Delco? It's GM product so stick with the factory stuff. It's what was designed for the car.

Not sure where you get the 5 microns from. All filters will catch some particles at the 5 micron particle size, if they caught all of them at that size, it would be very restrictive.

Pleat spacing seems like it would have a small effect on efficiency, some areas really get bunched up pretty close. When that happens the pleats dont go straight up and down, they sort of weave back and forth after use. I would like to see no more nitrile adbv's in the future. Dry starts are common after a few months of use on some cars.
And on the pureone specs, they came off an auto parts specs sheet which I can't say if they got the right numbers or not.

Are you sure ford does? If so when did they start using fram? I've taken apart many motorcraft filters and they very closely resemble wix. Although they do have a filter that just says FoMoCo. and could be different.

That's not really a valid argument though. Tons and tons of aftermarket parts for these cars are much better than the OE design.

10+ years ago this would be fine to say. Delco is GM's aftermarket division, and Delco quality has dropped a lot over the years. They are still better than most of the super cheap off-shore brands though.
 
I personally use AC Delco and have never had any issues. Used it on my old 2002 S-10 for 12 years with no problem and now on my GP. Fram didn't do any extra crap it says they are gonna do and K&N oil filters are too expensive lol
 


Like the oil additives crap it talks about on the oil filter box. It don't do squat more than what's it's supposed to do, filter oil.

Exactly...Fram are complete ****, have never bought their products and never will. I stick with factory AC Delco. Never had a problem here.

There's a guy on YouTube who ordered some cheapo ones from eBay, one ended up falling apart and wrecking the trans by sending particles all throughout it and clogging all the small screens and passages. Just don't buy eBay cheap ones and you should be good lol
