e85 driveability?

Hi, so ive been strongly considering going E85 on the GTP along with headers, using the 42# injectors.
I recently found out that i will likely be working from a different office starting next year. The new office is about 46 miles from where i live.
The GTP will NOT be my daily driver, but i want to make sure it can handle being my back up car, or being driven often.
I know e85 requires more fuel than pump gas, how does this affect range on a tank of gas? typically going 70-75 on the interstate. Does e85 create starting problems when it gets really cold? (i doubt it does but i would hate to find out im wrong the hard way). other than increasing power does it affect how the car runs?

Im trying to get the car to about 220-230 whp, and this seems to be the easiest way to do it (and cheapest) but i want to make sure im not going to have an major issues other than finding e85.

Thanks!

I run e85 daily, I go to college 350 miles from where I live and often drive back to see my girlfriend. I get around 18-24 MPG (Cammed, Turbo, e85) @ 80mph on the interstate. The car drives like its gas but hella faster and "cleaner" (Who gives a f****)... Cold start just requires tuning and its fine. I ran my e85 car in -20* weather.... its fine. Just get a damn good tune.

thats good to hear. I still cant get a clear answer on what ill pick up from e85, a smaller pulley, and headers.

Your build is where i want to go with my car next year once i get everything on it in good condition.
mind if i ask what kind of cars your running with, or the 0-60 time you think your getting?

That depends on what pulley you run. I ran a 3.2 on e85, headers, intake and a damn good tune. 42.5# wont support a load of power. I would recommend 60#ers and a tune.

My car ran a 12.8 @ 115 on street tires with my babying the 1-2 because I didn't wanna snap my input shaft on my stock trans. Car is very capable of 11s. No clue what my 0-60 is..
I ran a c6 vette and walked it. there is a video of that somewhere... The top end of this car 60-120 is just nuts.

EDIT: Before you consider turbo, consider the cost of the trans... the turbo kit can be done for 3k... the trans is a whole new story...

3 options:
Build the 65e - 5-10 grand depending on DIY or what you do
80e - ????$$$ and lots of custom work
manual swap - same as above

What is the cost of the parts to handle about 300whp? My dad is very experienced at working on transmissions, so the labour is free, minus a pack of beer and some future favors.
I really just want my car to run in the 4 second area, with the new camaro maybe a little faster haha.

4 second quarter or 0-60? 0-60 doesn't matter.... quarter matters....

You can hit 300whp on a blower setup... 2.8 pulley... 7/8 chain 300m is, tep race build

im looking fo high 12's low 13's at least for now. I believe this is doable with the blower, but i like that the turbo can do more if i ever decide to, but i might get a rwd for that.

that would require intercooler, headers, ported SC etc, Is this really cheaper than say the z3 turbo kit?

Snowth1ef has an ic kit for sale for around 500 picked up in sioux falls iirc
Headers are 225
genV is 200 - 400
tune

you barley break 1000...so yes its cheaper...

but again. The trans is going to cost you...

the trans is going to cost me either way, I guess ill budget 1k to build it Input shaft, double chain, output shaft, maybe the clutch sahft and stage 1 axles. should handle moderate HP

No.

You need a
300m is - 400
7/8 Chain - 300
Tep Stage 1 + his valve body and channel plate - 1000
Other misc stuff - 500
thats just for a superchared setup...
I spent 7k on my turbo trans
1in gmr chain
LSD
1200 Aramet shaft
tep stage 2

Double chain is weak... single 7/8, GXP or 1in is better.... wtf is a clutch shaft? OS is not a problem until higher horsepower

all that just to run 300 whp?
i have read that the main issue up to 300 is the input shaft and the TC

Yes, that SHOULD easily net you a fairly reliable 300whp setup, if enough bargain shopping is had. But, nothing is garenteed when it comes to modifying cars, other than the addiction. xD

hell i dumped 1500 into camming my monte the "right way" set something on the engine in the hollow under the lim, had lunch came back forgot it was there and put the motor together... I learned two things that week, just because you spend lots of money on a project doesnt mean itll work, and always have a back up car.
