Which way to turn bolts on caliper

Mirraco

One BadAzz GT Dawgg
Doing brake pads and rotors which way should i turn the bolts for the 15mm. They are on there really snug and cant seem to get to go either way and dont wanna tighten it more. Lefty loosey righty tighty?

iirc they all loosen to the left like normal. I had to use a small pipe on the end of the ratchet to be able to get enough torque to break them loose.

just set the ratchet to loosen then put it on the bolt. leverage is your friend.

i always spin the ratchet in my fingers before it goes on a bolt. righty tighty, left loosy

I figured, the brake rotors look like they havnt been changed in years ended up ordering some of them. I was planning on only doing the pads and getting it ready and putting front end on blocks. Got it sittting in garage right now, waiting on the pads hoping they come on saturday.

Ganna prob set the tie rods while im down there the steering wheel sits at 2 o clock see if i can figure that project out. ganna be sittting on blocks for a week i would say, ordered the rotors tuesday at 3pm, and still not shipped.

take it to a shop its 75 bucks for a real alignment.

those rotors look like they've seen better days.
It would high pitch squeak when going like 35 mph, then hitting brakes pretty hard to go down to 20 would make it stop, not sure if its the rotors, pads or whats going on with that but the brakes are pretty weak when i drove it so im doing the pads, and now the rotors after i took the wheel off.

80$ for alignment at dealership i went to. they also said it was leaking oil from oil pan and rear main seal, which hasnt leaked a drop or moved on the diptick. I could see oil on the control arm i think it is, not exactly sure i would bet that the oil pan is leaking, or seaping, but it doesnt look bad when its not dropping any on the floor.

dead pads, aka no meat left, on the squealers.
I figured it was the pads doing the sound, and when i seen the rotors i was like i dont these will work

What do you think caused the rust in between the lugnuts on the rotors? The rotors look really bad, but thats what got me is the rust in between the lugnut bolts. Was told car sat for about 18 months before i bought it, but i dont know if its true. has 165K miles 2004 gt.

to bad you ordered parts already, this is the perfect time to up grade the brakes to F bodys. those stop real good.

Plan on driving it this winter, then selling, got it for 2300. I just dont wanna drive my 01 gt with 56K miles in winter time in MN. rather crash the 04 than the 01

Moisture, water, snow, salt all touch the rotors where you live, thats why there is surface rust there.

Completely normal. Look at the backside of the rims, the same spots on there will have corrosions from the aluminum touching the steel. It's just what happens where you live.

On these new rotors, clean them with parts cleaner and what not and then paint them black to protect the surface if you want. It will slow down the surface rust.

If you haven't pulled the bolts off yet, might want to give it a shot of PB blaster every day until your new parts show up.

Rust could be the issue, also could be some redneck not torquing the bolts properly and/or using red loctite on the threads.

If they used loctite, a torch on the bracket around the bolt would probably be the best bet for getting off.
