Re: Red Gtp is Built Pdipped and getting ready for E85 suckas!!

I used it as an excuse to swap in an aluminum subframe, lol. Dropping the whole subframe made it easier for me.

Yes! Me too!! Lol i wanted to paint my sub frame but idk i dont feel like doin it lol but i'll through some replacement parts on the subframe

Re: Red Gtp is Built Pdipped and getting ready for E85 suckas!!

If there is a Pick n Pull near by you can get an aluminum subframe for ~$50. Just sayin. Just don't get one that 01+ Impala\Monte Carlo or 04+ GP. 2000 Imp\Montes had them, but they were weak (bad welds). Easy 23 pounds weight reduction.

Just sayin...lol.

Got the Trans in made vid
Gtp Built Walkaround: http://youtu.be/IQvm7pkSND8

I'll make some more vids when i get on E85 this weekend and install FPR and install injectors ordered a Reptile tune to get me dialed in on E85 keeping the 3.0 and if no knocky i'll swap a 2.8 and and add a intercooler since i can get one for cheap gonna swap my stock throttle body for the Gen 3 to a N* with the LQ4 Maf with the quicker throttle response trans shifts great for now... no slipping whatsoever but with the extra power hardened parts are gonna be needed car runs great all in all

Re: Red Gtp is Built Pdipped and getting ready for E85 suckas!!

You have two choices to get the trans out.. drop subframe off or yank out top with engine.

If you did the aluminum subframe...I hope that you did the aluminum pan.

I was correcting Jason. ....I wasn't going to comment on how you did it the hardest way possible. If you wanna do extra work..that's all you. Next time though..you might want to invest a few moments in reading up on the "ea sy" (without space) procedures I've done for a few things like this.

Lol it Wasnt really "extra" this was my first trans install in a l67 and regardless i wanted to make sure everything was done correctly without fuvking up heck i even took pictures and labeled bolts lol and saved money which is easy in my mind saving money! And while the cradle was out i swapped a couple wear and tear parts so all in all it was a learning experience next time i'll check your thread if i do it for a job to get some extra cash or replace mine

Re: Red Gtp is Built Pdipped and getting ready for E85 suckas!!

Believe me.. you did a lot of extra work and cost yourself extra money. In your pics, the knuckles being off the struts.. that cost you an alignment. Don't get me wrong, you got the job done and kudos to you.. but there's much quick, easier ways.

Working with hoist legs under the car... hardest way possible.
Praying there was no leak in the hydraulic of your hoist overnight etc.. ballsy, never trust anything to hold your drivetrain longer than it has to. That's like going under a car with just an aluminum jack holding it up. NOooooo thanks says this guy.

Re: Red Gtp is Built Pdipped and getting ready for E85 suckas!!

When I did my trans I had to leave the 2x6 holding up the engine for about a day and a half, so I kissed the oil pan (with a piece of wood) with my jack. I still went out 3 or 4 times a day and lowered the jack and jacked back up to make sure it was holding pressure. I was paranoid.

Aligment was free at the shop i go to and i needed one like fauk before i replaced the trans i knew what i was getting into when dropped the cradle but i totally know what you mean i agree it is quick easier ways but for me i had the time tools and the know how so it didnt matter how much time because i cleared my schedule for this and yes i was paronoid with support i had but all in all its back in so far going good and until i build my next trans and hope to keep this one rollin

I tapped out on the hood, FVCKING GTX wheels evade me so I gave up and figured might as well send it to a new home.
