Grand Prix won't shift out of park, and the key won't come out

Hi, I have a 99 Grand Prix GT that I put a supercharged motor in. I am having an issue that, I can't shift out of park without pushing the button next to the shifter. My key also wont fully release without me manually pushing the button under the column to release it. Any ideas where to start? The car has a new brake switch. Could it be the neutral switch on top of the trans? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Derek

most of the time thats caused by a broken wire to the shiftier under the console. a place to look at least.

you can by pass both of them but its not all that safe. the shiftier you zip tie the lock up, so it will always shift out of park, car off or on.

the key you cut a straw to the right length and put it in the hole so when the cap is on it holds the lever in. a small stick also works for this. or thin wood dowel rod cut to size.

My 02 used to do the key stuck thing... only Gp I've had do it, was even shown the "trick" and had a "stick" to do it included with the car when it was sold to me...LOL!
For some reason unknown to me it's been two years now since the car has done it...not often a car fixes itself!
