At your current weight, and ~1000whp (give or take a few), you would only need like another 300+ whp total to get past Matt... which
in all honesty, won't be that hard for ya. Only limiting factor will be transmission holding ya back, like the converter slip I was getting.
Where more boost = no gains. You are to the point now, you have enough power/oompf to over come weight, so now its just to the point of
getting more power to the ground reliably, and knocking time off like crazy.
My biggest hurdle right now, is the shift time on the stock transmission. They shift well for a stock trans but I lose a lot of time. I can feel the slowdown when each trans shifts (they shift at different times). I lose a lot of time a little before the 1/8.
I feel like having trans that shift hard and firm, would net me 2 tenths right there. I also need a 1.3 60 foot. The hurdle there is my 2nd gear starts in the rear engine AND my weight. Although I have 2 engines, the front one doesn't grip much.
After analyzing the full res version of my runs in slow motion you can see the front end light up off the line. Even the rear lights up but not as much. That's in part why I hurt the transmission as the front end unloads, the rear end takes the load.
I have to use progressive boost in front to prevent excessive wheel spin. I feel like that can drop my 60 foot my 1 tenth and ET by 1 1/2 tenth.
If I had a firm shifting trans I'd launch in 1st gear and that would help my 60 foot a lot.
Unfortunately I run into 2 other problems for a record breaking run. The tracks I go to, typically do not have as much traction as some of the better tracks in the US.
That is a known fact.
For example this weekend, the 7.6 ET turbo V8s ran 8.3-8.4. Lots of wheelspin.
They go in the states and consistenly run 7.7 or lower.
That said this track sometimes has a high level of grip but it has to be a special event and then they use the expensive glue. Those events usually mean it's very hard to make even 2 passes in the same day. So no place for mistake or practice runs.
Ultimately, my weight is a big problem. 4400 lbs 2 engines. Matt's car probably weighed 2200-2400lbs MAX but had over 1000WHP. Even as a FWD he had 1.3 60 foots. That is impossible to do on our tracks unless again there is a national event or the kid of the owner of the track is going for a record run in his car (he has one of the quickest 4 banger in the world)
WHP per lbs Matt's car is much higher and it shows with the very high MPH up top.
This event I popped with the windows off to get some fresh air in the back but the aerodynamic drag is huge and reflected in my low MPH.
It will take two built engines with over 700whp each. A great track and 1st gear starts with hard shifting transmissions. to get in the 8s at all.
With the current stock engine stock trans set up, my estimation for a perfect pass maxed out is low 9s. And that will take a hell of a run. Unless I can lose 400lbs +
