05 Bin file for 06 GT

Alright so After searching for a more *detailed* thread on PCM swapping an 05 into an 06 all night I've decided to make a new thread, I'm sorry in advance for flogging this dead horse. (Hail Overkill Will's Secret recipe)

Ok so I already have HPTuners and a Spare ECM that came from an 04 GP. I've obtained a 2005 GTP Bin file from the HPTuners forums and have Tiny Tuner Installed. Also HPTuners does have a beta up for 2006-2007 GPs now but only for the VCM Editor the scanner is not officially supported but has worked for me on what I've tried so far.

But I believe I have everything i need to put the 05 into the 06 I'm going to give it a shot. Below is the intended procedure and Q's

1) Edit stock 05 GTP Bin File's VIN to match mine with Tiny Tuner
2) Tiny Tuner allows you to change the serial number as well, this this important? Does it need to match the PCM I'm writing it to? Does it not matter at all?
3) Install Spare PCM into Car
4) Use the Edited Bin file to license / Write to the Spare PCM with HPTuner
5) Perform Key Re-learn procedure
6) Perform Case Learn
7) Success? Fail? Cake? Death?

Seriously I'm just working on theory here but I think the worst that could happen is I waste 2 Credits on my HPTuners for licensing and you know time.

Also quick Q on the licensing for HPTuners - Is the Licensing per Tune / Bin file or Per Bin? If this doesn't work would my credits the salvaged on licensing my original file because it is linked to the VIN?

The way HPT works it's credit system, I find it's always more cost effective to license a year vs vehicle if you may ever touch a different vin for the same year.

HPT validates vin to OSID. As long as you can get those two sync up, you should be all set.

Hpt validates to the hardware serial number on the pcm... its real tough to change it.

Correct me if im wrong but you're saying
1) Each PCM has a Hardcoded Serial Number that is not changed when the PCM is flashed.
2) the Bin file serial number is irrelevant?

If hpt supports 06 07 stuff just use it and dont swap pcms.
Eh you may be right I could Use the spare PCM and use the HPTuners beta for that instead, if anything goes wrong I can just put the original PCM back in.
