How to paint red plastic prix body pieces (door bumpers?) to grey/silver?

So Im wondering what do i use to paint of plastic.

I went to the junkyard and got the fender pieces and rails whatever they are called on a 2002. Its the rectangle piece on the door at the bottom and the other long plastic piece that runs alongside the bottom of car below the door from the wheel wells. They are both red but my car is grey/silver.. can i just spray paint over it. What kind of spray paint can I use to paint this and what should I do. Thanks
 


Spray paint won't look the same as factory or bodyshop paint but yes you can make it silver easily that way. Duplicolor from an auto parts store seems to be fairly popular as far as getting the correct color in a spray can. Read label for preparation guidelines. Usually scuffing thoroughly with a grey scotch brite pad is sufficient. 600 grit wet sandpaper works well also. Since you're going from red to silver (which might not cover the red without several coats), and because that rocker molding probably has chips in the paint, I would recommend that you clean, sand, apply grey sandable primer (find it where you buy the paint), dry, sand again, re-clean, then paint silver and clear. Use care when removing the old adhesive, the tape flange on the rectangular door molding is thin and soft.
 
i repainted both my whole bumpers, they shine like mad if you clear them wet sand, and buff them up with a orbital buffer.

I'm thinking I might use that wrap paint that people use to wrap their cars. Plastic dip
 


thats 100 % rattle can. all duplicolor. and rattle can clear coat. wet sanded and buffed.

whole bumper cost about $50 to repaint. the buffer makes the big difference.
 
When I did mine everyone stressed using and adhesion promoter but some guy I know who painted vettes said use rubbing alcohol. I used the alcohol seemed to work well then I just used regular PPG primer and paint
