Leaking coolant at tstat housing

So i'm leaking coolant where the upper rad hose connects to the tstat housing. It drips consistantly when I stop. I had the same issue a couple of months ago so I bought a new hose, new clamps and I cleaned the tstat housing up pretty good to make sure there was nothing preventing a good seal. Time for a new tstat housing maybe or what? 04 GP NA. Maybe just putting some jb weld or something on the inside of the end of the hose?

I already did that the last time I changed out the hose. I bought the adjustable one and then went back to the OEM style. The one that you squeeze the ends on.

If you're running dexcool there's a fair chance the coolant is eating into the tstat housing. The corrosion will make it difficult for the hose to seal, even with the help of a clamp. If a new hose doesn't fix the issue, hit up the junkyard for a new tstat housing. And flush and refill with green coolant next time, if that's the case.

Or take it off and hit it with a wire wheel. Once off, it should be pretty obvious where it needs to be cleaned up.

your putting the clamp close to the end where the lip is at the end of the t stat housing right?

also make sure nothing is suck on the inside of the hose.

I am running dexcool. The tstat housing is fairly new, I bought it a few years ago when I lost the bleeder valve off the original one. It doesn't look corroded at all.

I put the clamp sort of near the middle of where the "valley" right before the lip is but not right where the lip is. Should I just move it up a little bit?

i would, thats how i put all my clamps, close to that lip, not on top of it, just a little bit from it, you'll see the hose sorta pull in around that lip when clamped.

id also take it off and make sure its all clean still, crap breaks off sticks inside the hose sometimes.

Like others, I would just make sure its clean and that the clamp is in the correct location. You could put on a screw style clamp as well if there is room for it. Two clamps better than one? Weren't you having coolant leak issue around the thermostat a while back?

I'll do that this weekend and see. I'm also going to do a pressure test on the rad because I think there's a leak somewhere. On a cold start, it would leave a good amount of coolant on the floor but not on any other starts and only if I was on an even surface because my driveway is on an incline and it wouldn't do that on a cold start. Weird...

Thanks. I will do that saturday, not sure if I will go with 2 clamps but we'll see. Yea I was leaking coolant in the same spot maybe like a month or 2 ago but the old clamp seemed to fix the issue.

Nothing wrong with dexcool...
Problem is with people... who leave it in too long and don't maintain cooling system LOL!

My dexcool is pretty fresh. Put it in back in February of this year. Not a bit of brown or anything so i'm pretty sure that's not the cause.
