• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Southeast WI 01 GT

Here's another funny thing about the emissions. I called WI dmv today and asked about changing counties for the emissions. They said all I have to do is give the address where I will be "keeping" the vehicle and they will change that in their computer. They said registration still gets sent to me at my current address. So they basically allow for loopholes in the system.

wow, so its legal to a point lol

NJ is all for one one for all. no county to county rules, one state one set of rules. well all need to pass state inspection, or pay at a shop that does inspections. paying is dumb tho lol

NJ used to be about the worst out there for inspections, but have slacked off big time the last few years. they have been trying to do away with it for the last 10 years now. it just wont happen it seems. but at least we are up 2 year inspections now. every other year you need to go.

if i wanted to not do emissions i'd register my car at our up north house, but i have no reason to. it doesn't cost me anything to have to go get an emissions check every two years and i pass it with zero issues.

Not only do different counties not have to do emissions but there are different tax brackets for different counties, "axel" charges, if your vehicle is a certain year it no longer needs to go through emissions... Wisconsin dmv is fubar.

IM Sure taxes change as to what county your in here, but thats all just f ed up. how do the cops even try to keep track of all that BS?

We don't enforce, at least not at a local level. Maybe the troopers do. It's all handled when you register the vehicle. Now if they aren't properly registering, not passing or failing to go for emissions, then dmv suspends the registration and then all police have cause to stop obviously.

Ok, I'll bite, what's the trick then? If I delete the egr, catalytic and an o2 I doubt it would pass emissions. Unless the mods to the PCM totally hide all that? And nobody liked the F the System tattoo pic? Totally not mine obviously, remembered it from a de-motivational poster and thought it fit perfectly.

unless they "look" for the cat, then you can use a hi flow cat and a deleted rear o2 sensor.

frozen boost sells a cat that is 100% free flow, its fake but looks real lol its 40 bucks. nice and cheap.

there are no longer emissions test stations and they send you to local shops that provide the service free of charge.

they literally plug in the scanner into the OBDII port and run the tests. i've never seen anyone even care to look under the car or under the hood. no one cares.

here in NJ they drive over a HD color camera thats a live feed to a 32 inch monitor. the guy see's it as he drives over, they are looking for it here.

the commercial truck lane they use mirrors on a stick to look underneath for the cat or cats.

they dont do a sniffer test any more or check blinkers or the horn or the wipers or the tires lol im not kidding, but you must pass the cat visual, and the obd2 scan.

a commercial truck everything must work as it should still. they test the whole front end, the brakes the tires the lights every last thing. no sniffer tho.

yeah, do the necessary disabling (forcing ready checks) of things in the PCM and it'll pass just fine.
I passed emissions b4 the engine fully dumped so I'm good for 2 years. And with the new engine I will have to get the PCM tuned anyways, so, maybe my approach should be this: tune PCM and in 2 years go for emissions test. If I've done things right, it will pass. If not, I will then tell dmv I am using the vehicle at the up north location and I will then have to turn in my gun and badge BC I will be a corrupt emission dodging cop... Lol.

Im sure dodging emissions isnt as bad as like smuggling meth or other stuff police are worried about.

With how touchy emissions tests are I just figured, even with PCM tune, my safest bet was to just "register" in a county with no emissions requirements. But Bio248 is from here too and if he says I can pass with the tune, I'll take his word for it.

i never had a reason to not pass. the only thing that'd stop you would be if you didn't run a cat and had a rear o2 code set. so long as all of the ready monitors are set and okay then you pass. you can even have two of them be not ready and still pass, i think.

either way, with the right settings in the tune you should pass without even thinking about it.

So I have to keep the cat?
