Fbody brakes and painting

Timing

Im thinking ima upgrade to fbodys brakes concidering i can get calipers rotors and pads for 100$ brand new. i replaced my brakes all around last year and painted them. I got brand new calipers, cleaned them spotless and sanded them lightly, used 3 light coats of primer, high temp paint, and brake caliper clear. They look like **** now and chipped like crazy. So ima get these and repaint them. What shoudl i use that will hold up? Also what do you guys think about maby painting them a gloss black and getting green decals that say grand prix or gtp or something for them instead of all green like befor. Do i need to swap out my hoses to use the fbody calipers? And does anyone know what the banjo bolt thread is for them?

id get a set of SS brake lines for them, iirc you use the F body lines.

as far as paint, i used vht caliper paint and nothing else front and backs. the backs looks like i painted them last week, but the f body fronts are dusty all the time, and a few chips from taking off the wheels and putting them back on. pretty sure they are like 3 years old, so if i need to repaint them so be it right?

i have found if you spray wheel cleaner on the calipers they do clean up real nice. takes all the brake dust and dirt off.

Or you could just go powder coat they wipe clean with a rag or even just when you wash the car

id powdercoat them and call it a day.. And no to any type of decal.. Everyone knows what a Grand Prix looks like no need to advertise it on every single part.

only thing with powder coating is you need to rebuild the calipers, and the cost of the powder coating is way more then paint every 3 years.

i do agree tho its the way to go if you dont mind the extra cost and the rebuilding of the calipers.

Rebuild kits don't cost that much and sure beats having to constantly repaint your calipers. I wouldn't waste my powdercoating stock calipers but upgraded calipers like fbodies, brembos etc I would.

Hell all you really need is replacement seals, everything else you should be able to reuse if the calipers are brand new.

actually if the pistons are good redcomp is right, mine were good cost me 16.00 for new seal and rattle clips only thing I kept was pins and pistons and that was for the pair.

or this..... http://www.g2usa.com/

It's epoxy paint for calipers and other car ****. Very durable but you can only use the paint in one sitting, in other words, you can't save half a can of the paint and re-use it 2 weeks later due to the fact that it's epoxy.

Blah powdercoating > g2

What your going to spend on g2 I'm sure you could get them powdercoated for a tad more and never have to worry about it

Yea im not spending $100 on getting them painted or powder coated..... Has anyone used chassis saver or por? Honestly im guessing the primer i used was garbage hense why it chipped so much. I might try like a self etching and repaint them the same way i did.

VHT cost like 15 bucks a can, one can did all 4 calipers.

id let them hang where you painted them for about 3 days after painting them to let them cure/dry completely.

The only thing that sucks is they dont have my green paint. Also do i really want to go another color? I was thinking black with the green lettering or green caliper/ black bracket. Idk im up in the air on that one. What does everyone think about color?

VHT Caliper Paint works very well too. Everyone IK that has used it, says to use a clear coat too BUT the most important thing to do is prep. Clean those calipers perfectly or take them to a machine shop and get them sandblasted.

i sanded mine, then used duplicolor prep spray, did 2 light coats, then 2 more thicker coats.

im sure the engine paint would also work if they have more colors that interest you.
