What is the best way to backflush an aluminum heater core, and should I use a flush chemical or just water? Switch to PEAK or stay with dex cool

to flush it just take both heater core hoses off the alt bracket, then put a garden hose to one hose and flush it. flush from the other hose too if the waters not flowing out as fast as it going in. dont use a sprary end, just open hose to hose. light med pressure.

Take both hoses off and only flush from the outlet of the core, not the inlet side. Not with high pressure either. Leave enough space between the garden hose and heater house to let the extra water overflow until it flows freely. You aren't trying to blast the clog out, just loosen it and let it flow out backwards.

My heater core cracked from doing this be very careful. New GM one costs like $100 ish on rock Auto.
