Turbo Regal vs Turbo LSx Trans AM

Total horsesh!t. But, that's reality. We all appreciate your token "loss", bring either of them to Florida, and prepare to vanish from the internet. SOM and BS still don't equal fast, Mag or not.

Aww someone's upset that a near 700whp turbo LSx couldn't shake a 3.8 on 17lbs?
I'm excited to race Bill's friend with the frame up custom shop race car.

Look... I am a huge SnowFlake Hater... What I will say is good runs... BUT I would be more impressed if we had some way to tell that he was actually making the 700whp.. I just dont take you saying your buddy THINKS it makes XXX....

All said and done good run.

In any event he made over 560whp on 11psi and is now running meth with 4 more psi.
So take that for what it's worth.

I'm not sure some of you understand how much power even 1 psi is worth when you have a 5.3 and a 76mm turbo.

Nice run Man !
Car runs strong for that low PSI !

What can kind of tires are you using to hook on the street ?

Heres exactly what the haters eat up and why people continue to hate when you say 1psi increase makes XX hp more......

Now hang with me for a minute you say near 700 so for math purpose well use 700.

700-560=140hp

140hp/4psi = 35hp.

Do you really think its gaining 35hp per psi!???

This is why ive said it before ill say it again you must be part for the fuzzy math club. (No offense G.W. Bush)

Why not just say it way last dyno'd at 560 @ 11psi but its now running 15psi?

It leaves a would leave a whole lot less for the haters to chew on.............

Couple of fast cars, no doubt. Isn't it funny how the vid doesn't seem anywhere near as fast as when the dotted lines were nearly turning into a straight line in your visiion?

On the buddy.. he's good, you're just waiting on me to have time. We'll get it together soon.

I try to add context.
Most people don't realize that his setup is gaining 25-30whp per PSI of boost.
The turbo is smack in the middle of it's efficiency range where he's at right now.
We're not talking about a T25 turbo on a 1.6 here.

Exactly but hp doesnt increase linear with each psi increase right? Meaning each psi its cranked up its not making the same xx gain each time because of engine temp, effeciency, timing, ect...... If it did make the same incrimental gain for every psi increase it gained xx hp then why would it not make 1400 hp at 30psi using the same scale. We all know thats not going to happen.

Long story short eventually for each psi increase its going to be deminishing returns because of what the engine can handle right? Eventually its gong to knock or some variable is going to have to be changed.

maybe it does make 25-30 hp for 1 psi but i dont see 4psi adding 140 hp unless the tune was super consevative to begin with and the added psi doesnt effect the timing, knock, injector duty cycle, engine temp, effeciency of the turbo ect.

Eventually every setup is going to hit a wall. Finding out where that wall is becomes the magical question.

This was an estimate based on the circumstances.
He added meth + timing + boost. From 11-15psi he estimates 25-30whp per psi over the previous numbers.
Obviously with a turbo there are diminishing returns when you cross over to the right side of the compressor map.
However he's smack in the middle of it right now.

Bingo an estimate thats my point glad were on the same page here. You know just as well as i do the haters are going to eat up anything thats not proof lol.

Interwebs revolve around pictures, dyno charts, proof, cold hard facts man.

HAHA cmon estimates and i thinks dont cut it round here........

But...but.......

SAE corrected numbers for actual facts and never estimations...

This can't be real life, can it?

700 HP my ass. You can talk smack because you are too far away to get rick rolled as you deserve.

Hey what's going on?

I am Bills friend with the Caprice. It is a 1981 4 door, 3950 race weight.
Motor is the baby 4.8L with over 200k miles, nothing but a cam. Transmission is a refreshed 4L80e with a valvebody.

I wanted to clear up a few things...

Regardless of being in the process of opening my own shop...I built the car in less than 10 months to what you see today. 80% of the build was in the 1 car garage out of my house. I will be the first to admit that I am not independently wealthy, and I am sure Bill can vouch for that. I don't know where you are getting the "frame up shop race car." Honestly, your buddies Trans Am is more detailed with more invested than my pile of parts LOL. I literally have had it running for 3 weeks. I have a lot of data with the new combo and already recorded some good numbers, so I am plenty confident that running my combo on the gate will be more than enough.

Anyways, I am looking forward to the race. How much did you want to run for?
