I think I know a guy that does it for 35 but I was gonna do it my self but now I will have to pay

The other option is to get a fob rebuild kit instead of the full fob...if it's just that the buttons are worn out on your old fob, you can get a kit to rebuild it with the original circuit board in it - new case and buttons, old chips...no programming required. If you are adding a new fob, yeah - you're paying to have it done.
 
call any GM dealer with your vin # and they can tell you if it came with factory fobs security system and all that stuff.
 


I know some guy at a the mall that does it for 35 and gives u a key fob

Its a mexican guy that sells used key fobs my friend got one for 99 grand prix.
