The Panda- Pretty Much a Racekar

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

Like Dave said, there is literally no travel at all. The looks of the coilovers being bottomed out don't justify replacing the struts constantly. Although I do have a spare set of them for when these do take a crap.

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

I'm surprised, Dave! I think it makes it look way meaner. Thanks everyone.

On a side note, got the front bumper off, plate holes are sorta patched. This winter I'll just get a new bumper anyway, this one is rough. Spraying the spoiler in a bit, as well as the front lip. All the paint should match finally. Got the windsheild washer tank and pump out too, weight savings ftw.

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

Hoping to get the bumper on tomorrow. Did some major cleaning tonight in places you can't see, not sure why, since it's going to be taken apart for rust treatment this winter anyway.

Here's the decklid before wetsand/buff. Color matches way way better. Not super happy with the overall quality, but it's to the point I simply don't have time to redo it before the meet. It's the way it is.

I was wondering if this thread would get really awkward. But on a side note rust prevention is the best cure.

Truthfully it doesn't matter to me. Of course, it's always fun when there is more action than less. Basically this is just a public diary of the car, it's been very well documented in the past, and will continue to be.

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

Me personally I wouldn't document a csr unless it was worth big bucks. I don't understand why your doing it

Not sure if that post is missing a few " n't "s or what.

I'm pretty sure he's doing it for the love of it and not to cash out in the future.

Without a doubt. The chances of it being sold again are about as great as the chances of the car having 17" wheels on it some day... Not gonna happen :D

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

One thing I wanted to buy was the SE sideskirts. Gives the side the appearance of being about 1" lower, but they are overpriced.

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

No mo plate hole plugs, probably could've done better, but the bumper is going to be replaced anyway so I didn't spend too much time on it. Still need to blend the paint a bit better... Lip is done too, haven't sanded and buffed the clear yet though. Still have a ton of touch up and detailing to do before the meet. The car is filthy from sitting.

Re: The Panda- New Adventures

Man this car deserves some custom made coilovers to solve the 1/2" of travel issue. You don't even really have to go lower, it looks awesome as it is, but just to improve the ride. You already have the correct top mount, you just need to buy some bc's or something that has a threaded body or shorter length at least and just worry about the bottom mounts. Problem solved, easy peasy, no blown struts or broken back. The car looks great though!

It'll happen. On a perfect road, this set up is absolutley incredible. Any bumps or cracks in the road, it's not fun. There have been a lot of times where I have to take a different car to a place simply because of coilovers.

Current technology in bags is amazing (as you know) if you can spend the money which kinda has me throwing that around. High quality components = lotsa money. I'd imagine it wouldn't be hard to stick $4-5k into a setup.
