Sputters under WOT

Hey guys

I got a 2002 GTP a couple months ago, and up until a couple weeks ago, it ran great! Then it started to sputter a little if I'd give it too much throttle. The engine light came on and I got a guy to scan it. It turned out cylinder 3 was misfiring. So just as a test I changed that plug. I can't do much at the moment because I have a broken wrist. Since this problem happened, I did the fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the MAF, ran some fuel line cleaner stuff, and changed the one plug. I have a set of plugs and wires coming from ZZP. I always run the highest octane fuel I can get. The only mod on the car that I can tell is the exhaust has been done.

After I changed the one plug, I did notice a difference and it ran a bit smoother, but still sputters when I'd give it some gas and it gets to around 30km/hr. Sometimes it smooths out again. The car also has much less power. Should I just see what the new plugs and wires do? Any other ideas?

what pulley size are you running. also is this thing moded? if so are you scanning for KR? did you also get a pic of the plug when you took it out?

It sounds like you are on the right track as far as where to start, I would try and get the rest of the plugs changed out, then do your wires when they come in. If that doesn't work I would check the coils, ICM and the fuel injectors. Oh and also check for a vacuum leak.

I think he answered that.

Thanks for the quick response. I believe it is the stock pulley. How do I tell for sure? The previous owner told me all he did was exhaust. I forgot to mention the old plug. It looks like this.

Oh! I also checked coils. I forgot. They're good too. How would I check ICM, fuel injectors and for a vacuum leak?

oreillys will test icm for free, you just have to take it off first. my wot sputter was from the icm

Yeah have the icm tested.
To see if its a fuel injector you would take the fuel rail off, don't disconnect the fuel lines though, but make sure you relieve the fuel pressure. Go to Oriellys and pick up fuel injector orings for all 6 fuel injectors for a total of 12, carefully pull out the number 3 injector put new orings on it, then take out one other injector put new orings on it and put the one you just removed in the number 3 spot and put the number 3 injector in the now open spot, remember where you put the injector, now one at a time replace the orings on the rest of the injectors. Now see if the misfire follows the injector.
To check for vacuum leaks, while the car is running you can spray carb cleaner on the vacuum lines if you have a vacuum leak the car will bog down if it sucks carb cleaner into a vac line.

That wasn't the problem. I switched it out with the one in my brothers car and my car still does the same thing.

I'm waiting on the plugs. I just tried one NGK plug in the misfiring cylinder. I ordered 6 NGK TR6 sparkplugs off ZZP.
